- Aellius is Cassius’ shard from the Eighth.
- He symbolizes Akraisa’s sense of Determination.
- Weapons-wise, while he is proficient in a wide array of them, prefers to use the classic sword and shield or gunblade; the latter is of questionable acquisition.
- Aellius refuses to drink anything alcoholic; this stems from his paranoia of war against heretics and dragonkind both, where poison transferred via drink was not uncommon as the sharp aftertaste of alcohol masked any bitterness a poison might add.

Aellius is of the stereotypical military faire; muscles, scars, and the terrifying intelligence that carried him through the ranks. He has fought dragon and man both, and has yet to fall, though his flesh tells many stories of his many flirtings with death.
Born into a noble family, Aellius wanted for nothing. Though combat training was the height of his excitement during his younger years, he took a liking to mathematics and proved to be quite adept at it, often to the utter surprise of his tutors; and while the young boy might have dreamed of attending the Scholasticate to further his studies, the War eventually came knocking on every door in Ishgard.
Resigned to his duties, Aellius’ youthful demeanor ebbed away with each cut of his blade; he threw himself fully into the fighting, pressing forward as though possessed by the spirit of the Goddess Halone herself. He rose through the ranks swiftly, and now holds the ranking of Commander, in charge of a not-insignificant battalion. Beside him, two souls of unknown origins that follow him as ghosts.
