Profile

Personality -

When Hugin was young, he was extremely kind, gentle and giving. Even though he was rejected by most of his kind, Hugin never stopped trying to help. He would forever try to teach the young ones how to hunt, fight and make medicines. Hugin was knowledgeable far beyond his years and would give help whenever one would let him. As he became a teen Hugin noticed that the help he was so willing to give was being mocked by the elders, whether he were right or wrong they would constantly insult his intelligence. Hugin slowly became more reserved, only showing how capable he was to his twin sister and parents. As more time passed, more of his people began to resent him causing him to eventfully leave with his sister for a better understanding village.

An older Hugin is still gentle, but only to the ones who know him well, or younger children. Hugin is also quite, reserved and arrogant. He loves to watch the world and people around him, observing their everyday lives. When asked for help he will roll his eyes and tell you what to do in a board sarcastic tone, believing that everyone should know what he does.

Hugin is quick to temper, what can cause random fits of anger. He is fast to snap at someone with both his tongue and fists, causing many fights.

 History -

Hugin is part demon, part demi-god. Even though this was news he did not find out until much later in life, after the death of his sister and he had destroyed his whole village in a rage.

To understand Hugin’s ancestry you must first look back at his mother and biological father. Arura (Hugin’s mother) was a princess to her people. She was kind, forgiving and loved all things, if they were from this world or not. She believed in second chances, and thirds and fourths. Arura would give anyone the benefit of the doubt, quick to forget any wrongdoings. Traits she passed down to her children and why all who met her fell in love.

Even though she was young she knew that to be a queen was not a task she would ever be able to take on. To punish anyone was beyond her, a task she could not physically do or ask someone to do in her steed. To get her hands dirty was not what she believed in, upset with her refusal to take over, her parents sent her away to be married. Arura married a prince who was never destined to rule, named Anok.  At the beginning Arura never loved Anok, it was a marriage picked out for her, something she was also against. She believed one should be able to pick who to love.

Unhappy, Arura would travel into the woods at night, to visit the lagoon of the gods. Anok, wanting his wife to be happy would let her leave, knowing the woods were more her home then where she had been forced to now live.

After a year of leaving her home every night to travel into the woods a God finely appeared at the lagoon. Arura knowing what the God represented asked for death, she was unhappy, away from her birth home and married to a man she could not love. The God knowing aura was still so young and foolish made her a deal. She would return every night until the next new moon in two months’ time and if she still felt the same the God would grant her wish.

Arura did not know what the God was thinking, but complied with his wishes. Night after night she travelled to the lagoon and conversed with the God, he did not come near her, did not touch her, never leaving the water as he spoke to her in soothing tones. Arura learned of his past, how he had come to be a God, the horrors he had committed and what had been committed to him. His powers, his pain, his sorrow. She listened to everything he had to say again and again until she could not take it anymore. Finely braking down she asked the god why he still lived, why he still protected the world what feared him.

He answered that it was simply his job, he wold live a million lifetimes of pain before he would see anyone of his people suffer. Arura knew that moment that she was in love.

She did not wish for death when her months were up, simply asking if she could keep returning to converse with the powerful being.

Time carried on moving and with it arura kept visiting her God, until one day she found that she was with child. Polaluka learning of this, feared for her safety. He had been cursed by a demon, any children of his would also bear the mark. Arura refused to give up her child for any reason, she ran form the God back to her husband and told him of what she had done, begging he would show her mercy,

Anok did more than that, he loved his wife dearly even if she did not feel the same. So he promised to care for her and the child, say the child was his own so to hopefully throw of the scent of any demon out for Arura and her unborn offspring.

Unfortunately demons are not easily fooled and this demon was far older and smarter than any other. She poisoned Arura’s womb, infecting her babies with demon blood, so potent that the child had a fifty/fifty chance of survival, and making Arura barren.

Hugin was born in the winter, with his twin sister Munin, and twin brother who was born still. As Hugin grew it was apparent he was nothing like his sister, who was beautiful in appearance but rotten within. One day Hugin was severely punished for protecting his sister from one of the king’s sons, he was taken away and a bolt was placed through his jaw. The king hoped that it would cause his death in the future as a deity can only eat large meals, their mouths designed to dislocate like a snakes when eating. Fortunately Munin would not let Hugin die, and so she took care of him, hunting his meals and braking them down into smaller manageable portions. After the incident Hugin became stronger, he worked to be the best that he could and became the village’s most powerful protector and best hunter they had.

On the day they both became of age Munin refused the hand of the king’s son and was banished, Hugin leaving with her so to protect her, like she had him all those years ago. Unfortunately the king’s son was an arrogant man, jealous and vain he believed everyone wanted him. Being rejected enraged him, so he followed the twins for months until finely he got Munin alone and killed her.

Hugin seeing this but not being able to stop it, finely broke. His demon blood took over and he transformed into the monster living within. In his rage he killed the king’s son and took his body back to his village to show the king, while there he destroyed everything and everyone in his path until his mother finely calmed him.

Seeing her son how he was Arura knew that the god had told the truth, a demon rested within her boy, but she would not stop loving him.

After the death of his sister and the murder of his village Hugin’s mother finely told him of his real father and the curse he bore.

With his knowledge on his shoulders, Hugin left and never returned. He is remembered in the village as the lost prince.

A much older Hugin found his father and learned of the curse he bore. The blood in his vines gave him strength but also gave him unnecessary rage. With his death he would not be taken to the land polaluka resided over but reborn a full demon, just like his sister Munin, and brother who had died at birth.

Sickened with the news Hugin left and travelled north, learning to control the demon within him as he went. Over the years Hugin fully mastered his demons blood, and could take on his demonic form when he wished. He lived his life in search of the demon who placed this curse on him, hunting her to the ends of the earth so he could finely take her life, knowing no one would ever have to bear the same curse he now bore. In his pursuit Hugin came upon a village in the snowy mountains, where he was treated just like everyone else. Finely at ease, away from his fears and anyone wishing him harm he settled down for a while. Meeting a large deity by the name of Jensen, Hugin gave his mission a rest for a bit, simply happy with the life he had around him for now.

 Abilities -

Hugin is a powerful demi god with the blood of a demon. This makes his birth magic that much more potent. He is a shapeshifter, his favourite forms being a common crow, a wolf and alpaca. He also likes to take on the body of a sphinx, but this is mainly because he can be lazy and does not want to transform all of his body to speak to the humans. Hugin also has the ability of thought, meaning he can read what you are thinking and get the answers he needs by asking questions. Hugin’s demon blood makes him a face changer. Meaning he can read thoughts and change his face to match that of a person you are thinking about. Hugin has only tapped into his basic demon and god powers, so one day he may have new abilities he did not have before.
