Frey is a "fringe mage", known as devout spirit mages live within keeper society, though only on the outskirts of the coastline, bordering the wilderness. They protect the basin societies from dangers in the wilderness like monsters. Often, spirit mages are born and die with the wilderness. It is a livelihood they are born into-- to preserve the wards along the homeland, protecting all society. Such mages dedicated to the border dedicate life energy to keeping the wards' integrity, so they live there for entire lifetimes.
