Kiyoshi

- His sword is named Anken. It was salvaged by the village bladesmith who was rather astonished by his severe lack of smithing skills.
- A wandering warrior-for-hire who eventually befriends Fumiko and together they go on epic adventures.

As children, he and his best friend Katsumi would dream about exploring the world. When they were finally old and experienced enough to do so, Katsumi decided she didn't want to go anymore. She encouraged Kiyoshi to go on his own because it was what he always wanted to do. After a bit of convincing, he agreed to go on a short year-long trip. When he returned the village was in ruins. It wasn't clear what happened to it or its inhabitants, but with nothing else to do, Kiyoshi had to get back on the road and find work. 

He still grieved for the village and thought he wouldn't be able to find peace unless he learnt what happened, or who did it. But after some time he gave up on this idea - he found happiness in helping out people, on his travels, in villages he passed through, whatever. The gratitude of those he helped bought him more peace than vengeance ever could.
