Lamia was once known as queen. She has several children of her own, when one day a certain thunder-god came down to visit her. His wife was furious, and unable to take it out on him, took it out on her instead. Lamia's children were killed and she was transformed into a monster, struck by the loss and the unfairness given to her. No one could see her as anything but a monster, so Lamia would grow to accept this role, spiteful and angry with her situation. Her once rational and empathetic heart changed to be self-centered and cruel. What else could she be? No one thought differently of her, and as time went on, there was even an entire race of snake-demons bearing her name. If she couldn't be known as the queen she used to be, then she might as well embrace the role of the villain. After centuries of being on her lonesome, Lamia, for whatever reason, faltered when a pathetic human begged for his life. In the return that he would tolerate her presence from then-on, she let him live.
Today, she is known by others as aggravating and purposefully vindictive. She will taunt and mercilessly insult those she even calls friends. For anyone else to insult these friends, though, they will receive scathing results. Lamia is fiercely defensive over the people she associates with, though she nearly always claims it's because they have something for her to gain.
To anyone she does not call a friend or tolerates, she is downright aggressive. If not that, then she is most certainly buttering them up for some ulterior motive.
Despite all this, she is capable of expressing empathy and sympathy. However, Lamia perceives these things as a weakness and has difficulty being productive with them.
Lamia can "turn off" her tail at will, though excessive time without having it out will make her itchy and irritable. While having her snake tail out, she can freely change her height and use a variety of powers. When humanoid, her legs have scales and they will change color alongside her emotions. Her hair does the same, but while humanoid she can choose to repress it. All her powers are repressed in this form, though are stronger the more recently she's eaten.
Not only that, she is responsible for the lineage of monsters known as lamia. As the species name shares her own, she will often refer to herself as Lydia and insist others do the same to avoid confusion. Unless, of course, she's trying to let it be known one is about to be killed by Lamia, mother of snake-monsters.
