Optimistic | Naive | Heart of Gold
An adventurous young starfarer who loves a challenge.
Aurora is a determined individual who puts her all into everything she does. She loves meeting new people and making new friends, and will do everything in her power to keep them happy--even at her own expense. She always means well and tends to assume the best of people, but this makes her prone to being a doormat and very easy to take advantage of. She also focuses deeply on tasks she finds important, often to the point of neglecting personal needs; she is very much an "all or nothing" kind of person. She has a special knack for mechanics and even built her ship, the Auriga III, with her own hands from the salvaged remains of destroyed or abandoned ships.
She has a strong love for anything vintage/retro, particularly the 1980s era, and has a large collection of 80s Earthen memorabilia including posters, cassette tapes and players, game consoles, accessories, and more. She also loves collecting stationery and has a hoarde of stickers, pens, pencils, notebooks, and enamel pins.
Aurora also has ADHD-C, so she's very flighty and excitable and has difficulty focusing on things that don't interest her. She is also very emotional and has trouble controlling and articulating her feelings properly (either too much or not enough), and is very sensitive to rejection, making her a textbook people-pleaser.

Childhood/Origin
Aurora lost both parents in infancy, so her heritage is unknown to her. She would then spend the first 14 years of her life in an orphanage, where she was alienated and picked on by her peers and ignored by caretakers. As such, she had few friends and a very lonely childhood.
Days after her 14th birthday, tired of the loneliness and determined to start fresh, she snuck out of the orphanage and fled from her home planet with one of the orphanage's transport ships. For the next year, she made a living for herself by taking on odd jobs throughout the galaxy. When times were especially desperate, she would even accept jobs from shadier figures for things like illegal ship modifications or destroying police equipment. This would lead to multiple run-ins with the law, which would turn into a growing distaste for authority and law enforcement.

Charon
[ friend, crewmate ] Aurora and Charon's personalities are on polar opposite ends of the spectrum; while they may occasionally disagree or bicker with each other, they balance each other out evenly and share a close, sibling-like relationship. Where she tries to get him out of his shell and be more adventurous, Charon keeps her in check and talks her down when her impulsivity gets the best of her. Aurora greatly admires his intelligence and diligence, and can always count on him to get them out of a sticky situation. While she occasionally feels smothered by his protectiveness over her, she knows she can trust him with anything and deeply treasures their companionship.
Astrid
[ friend, crewmate ] Aurora greatly looks up to Astrid as an older sister, and views her as a role model. Astrid acts as a sort of mentor to Aurora, teaching her skills in weapon-smithing and handling (much to Charon's chagrin) while also giving sound advice when needed. As such, Aurora would often go to Astrid for comfort when she's troubled, and knows she can rely on her to be a good listening ear. Still, the two know how to have fun together, as they both enjoy causing trouble and enabling one another's chaotic personalities.
Bubs
[ pet? ] The newest addition to the Auriga III, and the object of most of Aurora's affection. She enjoys doting on Bubs, spoiling her rotten with love, treats, and toys, and believes her to be the most perfect specimen in the Universe. Of the three crewmates, Bubs' bond is strongest with Aurora, even if it's only because she sees her as a source for food.
