Backstory
A fresh round of incense filled the small house, a kitchen, living space, bathroom, and loft bedroom made for minimalistic living but enjoyment with fewer worries. Considering the living space doubled as a shop, Asteria felt a bit closed in sometimes though she loved being able to work from home. A buzz came from the doorbell, opening the door she welcomed the client inside. They walked around for a few then questioned one of her popular dreamcatchers. Asteria sold herbs and incense but she was best known for her herb-infused dreamcatchers that had a bit of power inside of them. Being born with the power to manipulate sleep, her parents abused said power to make money off of her. Forcing her to cause others to have nightmares who would then seek them out and pay a premium to insure they would have good dreams. A brilliant scheme, if you were rotten to the core. Having a strong dislike, Asteria left when she was able to, making her way out of Settemore and into Guardania. She floated between cities for a bit before settling in Dulcis, a quaint town with friendly faces and a wonderful bakery. For a while Asteria simply sold herbs and incense, ignoring her ability. After making friends, one confided in her about constant nightmares. Wanting to help, she made them a dreamcatcher and infused some of her ability into it, reinforcing its attribute to catching bad dreams. A week later her friend stated he no longer had bad dreams and was thoroughly impressed. Satisfied with the result, she began to make more and sell them for a good profit. Though she always carried worry within that she would become money hungry like her parents and start pushing bad dreams onto others. Snapping back, the client thanked her for the dreamcatcher and walked out, she returned to her building station and continued to work on more dreamcatchers. Gently splashing it with the essence of mixed herbs, lavender, and lemon, she then infused it with her ability and it was ready for sale. She slowly began to nod off, forgetting how exhausting it could be sometimes. Forcing herself awake she looked around groggily and decided a nap would do. She tripped over a bar stool before she could make her way to her bed, opening her eyes wide she questioned where it had come from. As a matter of fact, she never had carpeting in her house either. Befuddled she stood and took in the gigantic house around her. It was pristine but way too large for her liking. "Excuse me, but I believe you are in the wrong house." A light grey 'Mara stood at an adjacent entrance to the kitchen, slightly glaring. "Apologies but, I swore I was just in my own house." "Oh, I see, you may follow me I'll get you to the right 'Mara." The stranger led Asteria to a departing wagon for some city with a P, the outlay of the land had become so foreign, new 'Maras seemed to be everywhere, and the odd flora and fauna did not help. The wagon soon stopped and they slowly began the exit. An orange-red 'Mara was handing out brochures a the bottom. Receiving one, Asteria thanked them, opening it to find the truth to her afternoon snooze. Stunned silence swept her up as small tears pricked her eyes. Her home was gone, the bakery gone, the shop gone, everything. The orange-red 'Mara introduced herself as Serah, comforting Asteria in the process. Serah spoke with conviction and pride about Solaria, cheering Asteria up a little, knowing deep down that this confusion may only be the beginning.
