In Valiere's human life, she was known as Kang Hyun Mi in the 1800s, a noble women from small Korean village. Valiere was absolutely adored due to her perfect apperance; long, beautiful,silky black hair, pale skin like snow. Word of her beauty was spread across the land, hailing many men wanting her hand in marriage. Despite all of the men's best efforts, none of them were able to win her heart. One man, however, stood out it her from the rest- winning her hand in marriage after many months of wooing her with paintings and poetry. The two got married after Hyunmi convinced her parents to marry him, regardless of his lack in riches. The two of them absolutely adored eachother and on her wedding night, she became pregnant.  However- their happiness did not last very long. Months after their marriage, their village was attacked. The young bride watched in horror as her home went up in flames, women were raped and slaughtered, men were killed on sight. In an attempt to escape, Hyunmi's husband and her tried to flee the scene but were caught shortly. She pled for her husband's life, promising them anything they wanted as long as they let her love life.

The men agreed to her terms but forced her husband to watch as they each took their turn and raped her. After the brutes were finished, one of them pulled out their katanas and impaled Hyunmi in the stomach, leaving her to die. Keeping true to ther promise, they dragged her husband away kicking and screaming; later forcing him to become one of them. Hyunmi layed still in the snow, waiting for pending doom. However, just as she felt herself fading away, the feeling of life spreads through her. Confused by this sudden second chance, she felt herself slowly change, day by day. A month after she regained her strength, she decided to be dead set on revenge. When finding their camp, Hyunmi slaughtered all of the men. When looking for her husband, she only finds the man she used to loved competely broken and tortured; having to put him down when he didn't recognize her and had tried to attack her.

Hyunmi held her dying lover in her arms, a strong hatred brewing inside of her. After that day, she compeltely dedicated herself to  a goal; ridding this world of all of it's evil, even if she died trying.  That's the day she decided to go by a foreign name she heard once from a passing traveler, the name "Valiere," Hyunmi transformed into Valiere, leaving behind the soft, weak woman she once was and setting off to find a new life. A few years later, Valiere meets a reaper by the name of "Sydney" and befriends him, after saving his life. The reaper agreed to teach her his ways- showing her how to fight and survive. To this day, Valiere is a close friend and adopted sister to Sydney, working together as Reaper and Assassin.
