Vivacious & entrancing–such characteristics would be attributed to Ishtar at first glance given the lighter-hearted disposition they uphold, being someone who revels in any positive social stimulation they can get whilst out in the public eye. Be it via teasing & flirting with others just for fun, engaging in playful competition, or simply finding ways to metaphorically enchant those they meet, their charisma & somewhat optimistic disposition tends to aid them through such interactions as they uphold a more vibrant persona to those around them–an aura that their fans would find alluring. Yet, to say that such surface level appearances is all to them would be a lie–for, like the moon, a part of them always remains sequestered away from prying eyes, only ever observable to those they deem safe enough.

Beneath the surface of such an exterior lies a much more passionate & intense nature—something the witch deems a blessing & a curse, sentiments they pour out through music, dance, & artistry that incorporates their occult practices. Having high ambitions & drive, it’d lead to them attaining the heights they have, & with being very “all or nothing” in nature, they’re either fully invested in something or not at all, commitment to their passions & bonds knowing no bounds, never mind their interests & belief systems. Trust issues run rampant thanks to their past, being taught that vulnerability equated to being a target, to winding up hurt. Hypervigilant–rarely do they let others truly know them right away, operating off their intuition in determining who is trustworthy… & If they pick up on something bad right off the bat? Never will such an individual find themselves able to get any closer with the witch. They keep such individuals at arm’s length permanently, lest something tells them not to otherwise. Should someone get close to them, they don’t take this lightly—& to fragment it? Good luck getting it back, for the grudges they hold can last a lifetime & can bring out the worser traits they harbor. Granted, they won’t intentionally seek conflict & prefer to avoid engaging, but don’t expect them to be nice either if a grudge is there–more likely to attempt to drive the other away once the line’s been crossed. Prone to vindictiveness, though they do their best to move on–even if at times they repress their emotions in doing so, something that’s very double edged to say the least.

Their guard is high after being pursued by others for unpleasant motives, be it tied to a wish to have power & control over the witch, viewing them as a possession, or things related to their appearance—being no stranger to objectification & unwanted sexualization & thus being used with those intentions in mind. Further, they hate being idolized & despise anyone who idolizes others–& as such, they keep their true self walled off, finding no qualms in keeping as many at bay as possible, even if it’s made for a more lonesome personal life. Sometimes they question if their exterior is all to them, if others truly wish to know them… or only long to ensnare them for their own desires, & they’re very much “actions speak louder than words” when it comes to earning their trust. Still, they much prefer the quality of relationships over quantity, & those that do get close to Ishtar are people they highly value, such bonds remaining strong as a result.

Empathetic they are to a fault, at times easily impacted by others’ emotions as a result whether they wish to admit it or not. Another reason Ishtar upholds their guard, not wanting to empathize with those they shouldn’t, though it can make them irritable, seemingly “lacking” in empathy at times even if unintentional, which they try to keep in check. Their empathy levels fluctuate, though having minimal to none most occurs when Ishtar feels disconnected from the world themselves, often struggling to ground themselves should they attempt to keep appearing human in these moments–disconnect due to the things they’ve endured as well as the fact that they aren’t really human. As such, switching back to their true self, their alien form, helps–as sometimes their human form can be an escapism tactic to further the disconnect with themselves… A thing they’ve done amidst turbulent life circumstances that contributed to avoiding vulnerability—hence their lighthearted exterior, hence their tendency for escapism. Despite this though, they remain compassionate to those around them, especially those they care about, which aids them in providing help & comfort to those they value & having a better understanding of others in general. Devoted to those they’ve formed strong connections with, this can be to a fault, all dependent on who they’re allied with.

Perseverance & ambitions remaining strong, Ishtar is not one to give up easily—for once they set their mind to something, they’ll pursue such a goal relentlessly, though they do believe in compromise when necessary… as long as it’s mutually beneficial; They refuse to acquiesce otherwise. ☽ Cosmic Energy Manipulation | Examples of how this manifests

Capable of creating cosmic constructs through energy they obtain from the cosmos, which can take the form of weapons, attacks, instruments, or different objects they wish to create with it, each always bearing a space or astrology theme to it. Additionally, they’re fully able to imbue items/people with enchantments through their cosmic energy, especially with zodiacal enchantments. This helps make their witchcraft much more effective/potent for enchantments, but also carries the risk of rendering it completely useless if they slip up.

In combat, they often channel this through stardust imbued tentacles/tendrils that can pierce/strike, ranged cosmic energy attacks & blasts, & stars/planets/zodiacal constructs composed of cosmic energy that can rain down, strike an opponent &/or cause damage. Their cosmic energy also is used to channel the arcane circles that operate akin to synthesizers, used to play their music & guide their magic, though with this it's imperative they know what runes to sign on them with their fingertips & dance movements to incorporate into their rhythm & magic.

Whenever they fuse magic with their performances, ALL their glowy magic will generally kind of move in sync & brighten or dim in line with the beat they’re playing. Their magic will also always give off stardust-like glitter effects in the trails it leaves behind, or has tiny “stars” or illusory “constellations” that radiate off of it (these constellations being touched by an audience member will leave the person with a sort of temporary space or zodiac themed halo atop their head). Further, they’ll always start out their performances in their venues in really dim lights save for the space constructs & rune inscriptions throughout the place, & the first thing you’ll always see is a galactic light show–complete with an astrological circle formation, composed purely of cosmic magic, appearing right underneath them to start the initial lighting before progressing.

☆ Less effective in the daytime than the night as Ishtar’s weaker in sunlight. Fat L.
☆ Needs to be careful not to overexert themselves when using this ability, else it will have major physical drawbacks afterwards
☆ Being overwhelmed by their emotions when using these abilities can run the risk of it backfiring onto them/causing harm to themselves–when they’re going all out they kind of overlook their own safety (although it does spike the power of the attacks)
☆ When it comes to use for enchantments specifically: has to maintain full focus & know the energy they use is fitting for the spell, lest it backfires/is made useless

☽ Venusian's Trance

Strictly connected to their music/when they’re playing their music only, they have to be using their cosmic arcane circles for this to work. A more active form of their trance inducement, with this form capable of directly putting someone into a deep trance/hypnotized state via their music–immersing the target completely into the sound & linked up with Ishtar & their emotions. This leaves them able to control/influence a person’s movements as well, causing them to be either briefly unable to attack the witch (until they strike the person), or better coordination with Ishtar temporarily, siding with Ishtar & allowing for their moves/attacks (on anyone that’s an enemy of Ishtar’s) to synchronisze with the witch’s.

HOWEVER, Ishtar only uses this as a means of self defense or in more dire circumstances, or if other parties are fine with it (if said party agrees, then their attack stat gets boosted). Otherwise, they’re not keen on this kind of direct trance inducement.

☼ Drawbacks

☆Due to the link-up nature of this ability to the witch, the targets they use this on tends to end up with a bit of Ishtar’s cosmic energy after they're out of their trance, which can be used to strike the witch right back with as a temporary aftereffect. If one steps outta that trance-like state fast enough, they can use that to strike back without being too immersed into a trance first.
☆ They MUST have enough energy to do this too as this also will deplete them of energy
☆ DEMANDS focus on their part to keep their target in an entranced state. If they break focus, it can lose its effect entirely, not to mention needing to maintain their target hypnotized can make it harder to defend themselves.*
*This does indeed mean that their other abilities they use while using this effect can be harder to land
☆ It’s not a guarantee their inducement will be successful, & the more someone shows resistance the harder it is to keep them entranced (especially since the other person still has some degree of autonomy/control over their actions outside of the things Ishtar influences through this ability)

☽ Shapeshifting

Capable of morphing back & forth between a human form & alien form at will. Does this for concerts, but they also do this often outside of such events as they please. On occasions, they do this as a means of escapism, a means to cope with feeling disconnected from who/what they are, and the world itself—but when this happens the star patterns on their body will generally be dimmer than usual.

☽ Lunarian 12H

Can make the area around them look like an illusory, space-like/ethereal place, channeling the themes of the 12th House (in astrology], making it seem otherworldly. Given those themes, the area becomes imbued with an effect that makes emotions significantly more amplified, pulling them out from the subconscious–a 12H theme–to either induce an emotional high (during their performances) or intense emotional low (strictly during combat) on those within the affected area.

To more intense degrees, desires that are repressed may come afloat more easily, whereas during combat, subconscious pains & fears come afloat, causing intense emotional suffering on the target. Again, 12th House themes. However, Ishtar does not like using their ability at full potency/intensity in combat given how taxing it is, & has only ever used it on Kaletu, the famous musician in their past who hurt them heavily.

☼ Drawbacks

☆ Less potent in daytime, & impossible to use at full potency/intensity during a new moon
☆ Ishtar is NOT immune to their own ability when they use this. So, they too are impacted by its effects, having their emotions magnified in a positive way (during performances) or negative (during combat).*
*Reminder: Whenever Ishtar is experiencing intense emotions, while their magic becomes more potent, it also becomes super double edged–capable of hurting *them* as well, not to mention how reckless they get with attacks in that state
☆ If someone has something incredibly painful come float (subconscious pains or fears), the area's effects can no longer impact them nor anyone else any further–meaning everyone (except Ishtar) is returned to a regular emotional baseline, & all that’s left of the warped area is aesthetics only.
☆ This ability is also incredibly draining for Ishtar & leaves them turbulent for the rest of combat, & may leave them needing to recover after as they'll be more emotionally vulnerable this time.
☆ IF Venusian’s trance is used while Lunarian 12H is in effect? On top ofthe above drawbacks that Lunarian 12H & Venusian's trance already have on their own (which would come into play here), there’s also the following, even if it amps up the full potency of the cosmic magic attacks used:

• First, they must have enough cosmic energy accumulated. Physical side effects will manifest if they use both without enough cosmic energy & risks passing out after a fight (if used in combat).
• Cosmic energy is bound to deplete a lot faster with these both if not careful.
• While it syncs (& thus boosts) them & the entranced person’s attacks/moves/etc much better & links them & the person under their trance to each other’s emotions, even if good or bad it can be intense mentally & risks harm on the one they sync with. As such it requires focus on Ishtar’s part to mitigate this.
• Further, the emotional link up lasts after this is used, up to 24 hrs max, leaving Ishtar’s vulnerabilities more exposed & more emotional (in the good & bad)
• Recovery takes even longer emotionally, & physically if they push their limits.
• Keep in mind, Ishtar does not use this in fights unless under very dire circumstances & will only ever do this with someone whose established mutual trust with them. Outside of fights never does this unless it's with one they trust.
