Biography

Elvira is a queen to a species of underground spider people, one who never saw the light of day, and only came out at night. Her people were left undisturbed for thousands of years, passing the crown from queen to queen, until it eventually hit Elvira. Everything was fine at first; she ruled her people fairly, and only brought out punishment when it was needed. She had also made a contract with some certain witches. They would give her supplies of honey and meat, and in return, she would give them her spiderwebs. Then one day, she got a report of one of the tunnels in her domain caving in, and letting in sunlight, exposing her people to the sun in what was thousands of years. Surprised at what she was hearing, she went down to the hole herself, to see two young men climbing into the tunnel, looking around. Seeing the intruders, she immediately trapped the two in her spiderwebs, and waited for any other possible lurkers to come.

Later on that night, two more people came, one of a girl in pink, and the other of a man in black. She was able to trap the first one, but was sorely beaten by the second one. With a sword pointed at her throat, and her pinned against the tunnel wall, the man demanded to know where his sons were. Finding that she had no other way out, she hesitantly revealed that the two sons were up in the top of the tunnel the entire time. The man groaned in response, and threw his sword up, cutting the two sons out of the rafters. She then watched as the man then asked the two how they got there in the first place. After being told, he immediately verbally chewed them out for invading Elvira's domain, and turned around to apologize to the queen. Elvira sighed, and asked for his name in response.

The man explained that his name was Rikou, and that he had come to find his three sons, Renji, Raiko, and Ryu. This had perplexed her, as she had only captured the ones called Renji and Raiko. She never had a Ryu in her domain, let alone one with hair that odd. Telling him of what she knew, he then asked if she had any contacts with witches. Hesitantly, she told him of their contract, and that they had never mentioned a Ryu before. As the sun came up, she was shocked to have found the man transform into a human right in front of her. What was this man? Rikou asked for them to keep contact with one another, and she hesitantly agreed. Every time she made contact with the witches, she would send a spider servant to tell Rikou. Then one night, as she was trading her webs for meat and honey, she overheard a few of the witches talking about torching up the tunnels, and leaving Elvira and her people to burn. Enraged, she sent a spider to Rikou, asking for his help. He came that following night, and made a plan. The next time the witches came, they would follow them back to their coven campground, and pick them all off, and burn down the place in vengeance.

A few nights later, the witches came, she traded with them, and then as soon as they were out of the tunnels, Elvira and Rikou traced them back to their campground, where the witches had been resting. The two of sprung their plan into action, and they took out every single witch there, and burnt down the campground. Amidst the flames, Rikou found a book of records, one that kept track of where the other coven hotspots around the world were. He may have not found Ryu, but he had gotten a step closer. As Rikou said his goodbye, the sun came up again, and she watched as he transformed back into a human. She had to admit, she wasn't used to the sun, even though its rays felt good on her skin. And for her whole life, she had avoided such a thing. She wanted more of the sun's rays, to enjoy the warmth that it had to offer. Noticing this, Rikou offered her a spot on his night parade, where she could be there during the night, but also enjoy the rays of the day's sun as well. Elvira declined at first, not wanting to leave her people. However, her maid Penelope, had overheard the entire conversation, and went to tell the rest of the people of the offer. By the time Elvira had arrived back at her underground kingdom, her people were standing there with goodbye banners and wishing her luck with Penelope on being in the parade. Confused, she asked her maid what had happened, and she told her the truth, and that the spider people were glad that she could broaden her horizons, and that they would be fine if she was gone. Hesitant at first, but then persuaded by all of the encouragement, she found Rikou and his family at their house, and joined the Night Parade with Penelope in tow.

Eventually, when the parade moved from the United States to Japan, Elvira followed, and now she resides at the Nura mansion with the rest of the night parade.
