♥ Valentine Annesly ♥ Female ♥ Single ♥ Food Stall Employee ♥
[ oekaki page ]
♥ Obtained : February 22nd 2017 ♥

Valentine had a complicated upbringing with her mom as her sole parent. They spent much of their life couch surfing until her mom's folks took them in. Val formed deep relationships with her grandparents, seeing them as surrogate parents due to her mother's young age, absence and substance abuse, but her mom and grandma's bickering eventually tore that abode apart, even as they were still living in it. The temporary peace was nice, but when things fell into chaos, Valentine spent most days waiting for her chance to finally move out. As soon as she hit eighteen, she cut all ties, taking with her only a few personal items and her grandma's phone number. She tries to stay in touch with her gran, but it's hard with her mom still living in the house. Val feels bad about it, but being around her mother stresses her out too much for her to handle. She sometimes manages to catch her for breakfast or a coffee though.

Valentine works at a food stall in the mall, which is how she met her best friend Lori Bickmore. She's been a responsible adult since she was very young and because of this she manages to take good care of herself living totally on her own. She's also a wallflower, and the only reason she and Lori hit it off is because Lori loves to talk, and Val loves to listen, she thinks Lori's anecdotes are hilarious and her stories are always captivating. When reality is hard and bills are coming in, Lori always has a funny story to lift the mood. Valentine is shy and soft-spoken, but Lori stands up for her when she needs, in return Valentine provides guidance on all the real adult tasks Lori never experienced because of her sheltered and lavish lifestyle.

Valentine has always had an imaginative mind, sheltering herself with stories and characters as a coping mechanism ever since she was a little kid. Because of this, she got into artwork, and now she's a freelance artist on the side, which helps her garner extra money to treat herself every now and then. Most of her work, though, is private- she doesn't want art to be a job, she fears it would remove the passion she feels for it. She considers art her primary form of self-expression, considering she struggles to talk about her feelings due to her complex upbringing leaving her bereft of healthy coping mechanisms. She often struggles to describe her mood, but she can envision it in colors, patterns, shapes-- after she makes a visual representation, she can look it over, study it, and come to better understand it. That's her perspective, anyway.

Val is a sad person, but she tries really hard not to be. She's nervous and distrusting of others, anxious, the type of person who takes things too personally because of a history of mental and emotional abuse. She's trying to break these habits, attending therapy, and getting herself sorted out. It's still a journey though, and some days are easier than others. When she's feeling particularly down, her friends Lori and Soul really cheer her up. She also has a role in a witch coven with those friends- which gives her a sense of belonging she's always missed. The coven is relatively casual, as things go, it's more a modest group of witches, and she thinks of them all as a sort of strange family. She also loves animals and has one white dove who's a girl named Cupid.

Overall, Valentine is still a girl who hides in her shell, watching everyone else have fun. She's slowly trying to fight her anxiety to participate in the party, something she's always wanted- a task made easier by the help of her witchy sisters and her best friends.
