Summary

Huxley had a rather rough start at life. When he was 4 years old he was put into the foster care system after his biological parents were found to be neglectful addicts. Though if asked, all he seems to remember is that his parents used to like to eat “poison” and he was always hungry because he wasn’t allowed to eat “poison” so he couldn’t stay at home anymore .

He was bounced around a few homes before being placed in Astar’s care at 5 and a ½ years old. After living with her for sometime she initiated the adoption process which was completed around the time Huxley turned 7. He remembers this clearly because at his birthday party one of the gifts he unwrapped was the completed adoptions papers framed nicely, signed and stamped.

Hux loves living with Astar and is wary of the world around him. He has meltdowns and tantrums when he gets overwhelmed and doesn’t know how to express his emotions. He is overly attached and clingy to Astar and fears that one day she may also “get rid of him.” He struggles to form bonds with others around him and currently has no friends. He does feel lonely but doesn't exactly know how to make friends yet. He really wants to have a sleepover some day!

Astar has Huxley in therapy and seeing a child’s psychologist on a steady basis. She tries hard to get him to branch out and meet new people and try new things. It is a struggle to teach a child to trust the world around him when he already knows how cruel it can be. He is slowly getting better with each and every consistent day.
