⇀ Background

Before Annabella came to wonderland she lived in an alternate universe that lives forever in a 1950's neo-reassurance era where life only thrives for the rich or well off.  The poor were usually only worth something when they got hired to do mundane tasks like work at a canary, lift hay, farm, or shine shoes. Crime wasn't an issue on the surface but deep within society you could find the most unassuming corrupt forms of law, consumerism, politics, and daily news.  Luckily Annabella was born into a modest house that only made their living off of working for a rich family who owned a private parlor; a place where fancy cake and afternoon tea is served to their affluent customers.   
 
  When she was younger, Annabella was almost no different than she is today besides her maturity level. However, she did tend to get into trouble more often than she does today via childish pranks and the like. Her parents didn't mind it all too much as they thought she would just 'grow out of it' and become more mature someday. One thing she loved to do the most when she was a child was to follow her parents to work. It was a harmless act at first since they didn't live too far from the parlor, her parents usually got a babysitter but from time to time Anabella would follow them to work without them knowing. When she did follow her parents to work Annabella would've stayed outside the back door of the parlor, waiting for her parents to go on lunch and discover her 'hiding place'. Or, when her parents knew Annabella had followed them, they'd stash her away in the workers quarters to play before returning her home by lunch.  
 
  The Mrs of the parlor never took a liking to Annabella and always thought she was a little rat out for belongings. This distaste for Annabella only grew when she started working for the parlor as a hostess and overall maid. The Mrs drove her into the ground with all the work she receive, even if it wasn't her usually task, and almost always criticized Annabella for not 'doing her job right' or 'doing it wrong'. In secret she hated the Mrs right back and complained under her breath. So Annabella trudged on throughout her pitiful work days just so that her family could live the comfortable life that they had provided for her, it was only sensible to pay them back equally (even if her parents still worked for the parlor).  
 
  But not everyday was total calamity, everyday she worked she was always glad to see the Mister of the parlor; a seemingly unlikely, husband to the wicked lady of the parlor. He was young, charming, and slightly flirty towards the ladies, even more so towards Annabella. The two, even snuck away to a private room during a large party that was held in the parlor. The Mrs knew very well what was going on and soon threaten her family with their jobs. Before the Mrs could ever fire them something extraordinary happened...
 
 

 
 
 It was cold out and at the darkest hour of the night, Annabella was running for her life while trying to keep the rain out of her eyes with an umbrella that did little to help. She had picked up a tiny shovel at the parlor she worked at before leaving in a haste, her clothes still laying on a rococo bench fit for a queen. The clothes she now wore wasn't hers, it was the Mrs casual party dress. But there was not party for Annabella, there was only fear and the soft pitter patter of rain on the stone road before it turned into rain drops on a grass lawn, a park. She then soon lost sight of where she was running as the world turned black-ish brown and the rain started to fall... up? Her umbrella soon got bent out of shape when it started to catch on the harsh wind and small trinkets that were seemingly frozen in time. Her heart was racing and didn't seam to want to stop any time soon, was she dying? Was this the portal towards the after life? There was no true answer as her vision would soon go totally black. 
 
  When Annabella awoke her head was hissing with a slight bruise and her vision was lightly blurred for a few seconds before laying her eyes on a strange new world. Was this the after life? She asked herself silently, her barrings still toppled by the 'fall'. Before long Annabella got up and gathered herself and her slightly broken umbrella from the dirt before wanting through the woods that stopped and started at random points in time. Or was the trees and plants moving? She couldn't tell and didn't really want to know.. For now she would only assume that she was dead. But the locals, when she finally stumbled upon some, called this placed 'Wonderland', and odd name for the after life, isn't it?
