Emma is an amiable, kind and sweet young girl that many enjoy spending time with. She's very friendly, always ready to befriend someone new and quite talented - impressing people with her artistic skills, she enjoys painting landscapes and people, mostly herself and her friends. Emma is also an amazing pianist and often plays for her family at dinners or at family gatherings, sometimes even singing. She spends all of her time with her sister Jane and although they're almost opposite of one another, they love each other very much, even sharing the same room or sharing dresses with one another. Besides Jane, Emma also hangs out with Heng, both enjoy playing the piano together.

Emma is from an English upper-class family and an adopted child of William Hastings, a captain in the Royal Navy, and his wife Zohar Hastings (née Mizrahi). Besides Jane, her other sibling is James, a lieutenant in the Royal Navy. Emma gets along with everyone in her family, never playing favorites with any of her parents or siblings. She doesn't know who and where are her biological parents nor if she has other family members. Emma's education was alright for her status, being thought to write, read, languages (French and possibly French), knitting, embroidery etc.
