History                             Basil was born as the second child to Ursula Moody and her (soon to be ex) husband, the founder of the Grimoire Foundation, Casper Grimoire. Despite his parentage, as a child, Basil led a fairly normal life with his mother and older sister, as Casper had opted out of visitation and custody after the divorce. Basil was still a baby at the time of the divorce, so the only thing Basil knew of his father at the time was that Casper was very rich and, at the very least, cared just enough to send money to support his two children as well as to send gifts for them on holidays. When Basil was a young teenager, he suffered from a crippling disease that likely would have killed him, had his father not found out, and stepped in to help him. Basil was immediately treated by doctors at the Grimoire Foundation, wherein he received life-saving procedures, including an experimental, last-ditch effort transfusion of monster blood. The doctors managed to save Basil with this strange treatment, but they predicted it could in time show some very odd changes to Basil. Although Basil's physical changes from the monster blood were minimal, he did gain an amazing ability as a result of the transfusion- monsters, even of different species from the blood in his veins, seemed to unhesitantly accept Basil as one of their own. Even the most vicious of monsters contained within the Grimoire Foundation seemed to drop all hostility when in Basil's presence. Following this discovery, several more experiments with monster blood were tested on employees of the Foundation in an attempt to replicate this effect, but it appeared that none of them produced the same results as in Basil. Given Basil's impressive and unique ability, Casper insisted that Basil become an employee of the Foundation and Basil, having always been interested in the study of monsters himself and despite his mother's protests, eagerly agreed to Casper's suggestion. 

Trivia: 

• As a result of the monster blood transfusion, Basil's arms have turned a deep shade of purple up to the elbows and his nails have grown out sharper and thicker than any natural humans' would be 
• Due to the nature of his work, Basil's uniform is often ripped or stained beyond repair and needs to be frequently replaced 
• Casper and his best employees were all unsure what to register Basil's official work title as when he was first hired, but eventually decided that, by some strange technicality, his job would be considered a branch of security work 
• Basil assigns names to all of the monsters at the facility (provided they didn't already have one from before entering the facility), as the majority of them are simply referred to by ID numbers. This habit has caused trouble in the past, as Basil tends to forget their ID numbers in favor of remembering their names
