Appearance
- Hibiki is 171.8 cm tall, making him one of the shortest members on the team (along with Shinji Watari, who is 171.2 cm tall). Hibiki has short, slightly wavy, chocolate brown hair and brown eyes. He tends to wear a serious, emotionless expression, although he's shown to smile occasionally. He has a slim, yet fit body, and his everyday exercises keep him fit and healthy. He's pretty popular among the second years and many others find him attractive, some even cute.
On the court, Hibiki wears a standard aqua and white Aobajōsai High uniform emblazoned with the number twenty and white shoes with red details. Outside the court, he dresses in the Aobajōsai uniform, which consists of pale lilac shirt, dark red tie, cream sweater vest, white blazer and light brown pants with dark details.

- Hibiki is extremely stubborn, almost never wanting to change his attitude about something unless there's a good reason to do so. Sometimes his stubborn nature makes him come off as rude, even childish. Although he may be stubborn, he's a devoted and reliable teammate. He is an excellent, intelligent and serious player. He can maintain calm and cool composure during any match, no matter how tense it is.
Hibiki is very devoted to volleyball, as he's been playing volleyball from a very young age. As a child, Hibiki was watching a volleyball match and saw one of the ace's amazing, powerful spikes. Since that day, he has been practicing spiking the most out of all the things, wanting to improve his spiking skills, ball control and power, to become an ace like the one he saw on television.
In junior high, he finally joined the school's team along with his childhood best friend Totomaru Takuma. Due to his short height, he didn't get the position of a wing spiker, rather getting the position of a setter. In a short amount of time, Hibiki became a very skilled setter and was placed as the team's official setter. Even then, he was still determined to improve and become an ace, often staying after practice to practice spiking. Ever since joining Aoba Jousai High, his abilities as a wing spiker have been acknowledged and thus was given the position of a wing spiker.
He works extremely hard, which is evident by his practices. Sometimes his teammates call him the „Oikawa Junior“, both of them working hard to improve. It is not unusual to see the two of them practicing together.
Outside the court and practice, Hibiki isn't as hard-working and determined as he is when it comes to volleyball. He is shown to sleep a lot, even during class. Despite this, he's in college prep class, being the top student of his class and having excellent marks. Due to his awkward nature, he finds social interactions a difficult task and he has stated that it's irritating not being able to approach and talk to someone without feeling awkward.
He is quite popular, especially among the second years, as many look up to him, which makes Hibiki question himself as to why so many people look up to him, but he doesn't seem to mind it or think too much about it.

- Hibiki is really intelligent, as he's in college prep class and is the top student of his class. He states that he rarely studies and he himself is surprised by his successful results.
- Along with volleyball, Hibiki enjoys several other sports, like ice skating, skating and basketball. Because of his twin sisters, he has also grown to enjoy football as well, often playing it with them, but he has stated that nothing in the world is better than volleyball.
- Although he's a 2nd year, he seems to get along well with Seijou 3rd years (Oikawa, Iwaizumi, Hanamaki and Matsukawa), often hanging out with them in and outside the court.
- Before enrolling high school, Hibiki considered attending Shiratorizawa Academy.
