Rune Cats are rare, so rare in fact that the other felines of Lesmaria refuse to acknowledge that they exist. To them they are just characters in a story; but in reality there is a relatively small clan of Rune cats that do exist; they seem to only spring up whenever Lesmaria or the world is in danger. Although, even if a feline had seen one they wouldn't know that they where looking at one due to the fact that their runes only appear whenever they wish them to appear. These felines also like to stay hidden from the general public;
The Runes themselves provide these cats rare and mystical powers that rival that of the Daes - although some seem to only use these powers to tell prophecy's or fortune for traveling felines what their actual purpose is remains a mystery.

The start

Aesilon is a world that has been left by the Ancients to the Cats of the world. What had become of the Ancients has long since been forgotten as the only proof of their existence is the ruins they have left behind. Things have been quite peaceful for the Cats that remained on the land - that is, until the Calamity began.

It started in Asturiel woods; the crystal's corruption corroding everything it had touched. Floral and fauna was effected first and then those that called the woods home. Despite the woodsman's pleas the towns and cities surrounding them had claimed them to be cursed and denied them aide. Years have passed with the crystal's corruption seemingly locked away to the woods alone – this gave the citizens a peace of mind. That is, until a series of misfortunes started to befall upon the land.
The ground became barren, a mysterious illness which caused the death of many – often those of women and children specifically. Strange reports of the crystal's corruption leaving the barriers of the forest as well as strange sightings of creatures and odd lights from deep within the woods. Those that lived on Aesilon didn't believe that things could get even worse – but then the forever winter came.
Panic settled onto the world as those that survived the misfortunes began to call this strange era a 'calamity'. Some wish to just survive through it while others wanted to find a way to end it once and for all. There was one thing that was on everyone's mind, however, and that is – what will happen next?
