Kuri was born to a loving pair of Shiji-Long and was blessed with a happy childhood. Though both parents were nearing the end of their lifecycles at the time of Kuri's birth, they put off their rebirths until she was comfortably far into adulthood.

As a child, her parents shared as much knowledge as the could with her, but Kuri had an average memory at best and intense studying never kept her attention for long. Thankfully for Kuri, it was only her mother whose thirst for knowledge was unending. Much like Kuri herself, her father was much more hands-on and was eventually the one who first invited her into the kitchen.

Along with baking, Kuri's father also taught her spin yarn, to knit, and the basic knowledge of foraging and farming that allowed the Shiji to travel freely.

Kuri made her first trip to the human realm around 40 years into her first lifecycle - and she immediately became enamored with the diversity of personalities and baking techniques. From then on, the Shiji would make frequent trips to the region she first visited, often bringing back pastries and coffee for her parents.

Leaving the nest...

As the years passed, it eventually became clear that her parents were more than ready to be reborn. After assisting Kuri with obtaining the small cabin she eventually learned to call home, her parents ended their lifecycles and were reborn. During the initial years of their regrowth, Kuri opted to spend time studying the baking techniques of the human realm, traveling around the world to learn as many techniques and recipes as possible.

By the time she returned, her parents had again reached adulthood and she Shiji was now more than capable of producing all manner of baked treats... From exotic to traditional. Using her parents and friends in both realms as 'test subjects', she began developing her own collection of paper recipes and guides. In time, she found enough approval to begin selling her work to fund any small expenses she acquired, finally allowing her to be fully independent.

Finding her Soulmate...

Kuri, of course, was not immune to the aching desire to find a mate that all Shiji-Long feel in their hearts. But despite her many friends and companions, Kuri still hasn't found the person she will spend the rest of her existence with. Though deeply respectful and appreciative of her parents, now into her second lifecycle there are times with she feels a pang of jealousy upon seeing the loving couple together.

In time, Kuri hopes that she'll discover the one meant just for her... But in the interim, she does her best to keep her heart and kitchen open for everyone that seeks comfort in the warmth of her presence.
