tako is the spirit of a 90m semi-aquatic kaiju that has taken form of a 5"9' squid-person! maleguera (mal-ey-gear-uh) is their original name, but they've been since nicknamed tako after a comparison of them and the dish takoyaki.
the squid has a defense similar to a spitting cobra, and can shoot highly noxious venom from up to 8 km in full form, and up to 10 feet in their reduced form. tako also releases a toxic gas that emits from his jaws that can cause mild hallucinations, paranoia, mild discomfort, and death if exposed to long enough. so he commonly wears a paper bag over his head to filter the gas when he speaks. he's also been known to wear full-face helmets, blankets, and masks to try to reduce the level of exposure for people who interact with him.
they have ADD and severe depression, and are often unable to keep conversation with friends if they aren't fully interested in the topic. they've only struggled with these things once they started adapting to life on the surface, and when in full-form, almost completely loses their reserved demeanor.
