From a distance Hazel seems like somewhat of an edgelord, but she’s actually very genuine and passionate. She’s really spirited and strong-willed, and she won’t hesitate to get into an argument if she finds it necessary. She treats it as all in good fun, though, not genuinely meaning harm to anyone. She has her quieter moments, too, especially around people she’s close to. She’s friendly to others most of the time and a bit of a romantic. She’s more naive than cynical. When upset, she doesn’t really hide it, but she’ll usually brush other people off unless she considers them a friend. She’s a bit of a tsundere at first, but once she warms up to someone she’ll be a lot softer. She shows affection through spending a lot of time with the people she likes. She has no siblings, but she has a lot of friends, the closest of whom are Arun and Brandon.
Hazel and Arun have been friends for a long time, and they both trust each other a lot. They like spending a lot of their quieter moments together, Arun opening up while Hazel settles down. They make a great team, especially since both of them can be incredibly determined when they set their minds to something. They both bring perspectives to the table that the other wouldn't normally consider, and though this can lead to arguments they know each other well enough to settle them with little to no actual conflict.
After a fateful meeting in a pet store, Brandon and Hazel have shared custody over a snake named Basil, something that amuses Arun to no end. The two of them have rather similar energetic personalities, though Brandon is a lot more carefree while Hazel is a lot more driven. They inspire each other respectively to take it easy and to be more determined, fueling each other to greater heights. They like to banter and tease each other a lot, but underneath it there's a lot of trust and affection for each other.
Myra and Hazel have known each other since they both were young since their families are close. Myra's three years older than Hazel, giving them a dynamic similar to that of siblings. Despite that Myra's often very cold to others and demotivated when it comes to social interaction, she does respect and care about Hazel. Hazel also knows her well enough to tell that Myra cares about her, and her determination means she won't feel deterred by Myra's prickly exterior. The two of them both like taking care of Myra's extensive collection of plants together.
Sky and Hazel's friendship could perhaps be described as something more akin to a rivalry. His laziness and apathy tends to clash more often than not with Hazel's passionate nature. He bluntly refuses to go along with her energy, and she can never understand why he never seems to care about anything. But among all the arguing, the two find that they enjoy competing and bantering, in a way. Hazel's able to see what Sky's like when he actually tries, and Sky's able to see that her energy is genuine determination. They're both brought together by their mutual friend Laila, but they do have moments where they genuinely enjoy each other's company without all the squabbling, too.
Laila and Hazel are also old friends with similar energetic personalities. Laila's optimistic and cheerful personality never fails to cheer Hazel up, and Hazel helps inspire Laila to be a little more decisive. They can clash at times because of Laila's tendency to avoid conflict, but they always make up in the end. They tend to agree on things more than they disagree, and they have pretty similar likes and interests. They don't spend as much time together as they used to, but when they do hang out it's like barely any time has passed.
