BACKSTORY
There are infinite secrets in the Mangrove bloodline, but if there’s one thing no one has bothered keeping quiet, it’s how much they think Cosmo doesn’t fit in. He’s trans, loud, and more flamboyant than anyone in the Caribbean Sea has ever met. He’s also a skilled eavesdropper and recently, he’s discovered an incredibly compromising piece of information about his family. His father and cousins have been smuggling illegal gems into their waters for years, and their biggest, riskiest delivery is soon arriving. If he speaks, his family will no doubt be imprisoned, and he’s not sure he’ll be able to prove he was never a part of it. If he keeps quiet, the guilt will never let him sleep again.
When he finally decides to leave, the only thing he has left is the gem deeply encrusted in his chest… And here comes another merboy with a redder, shinier one, in the exact same spot. They’ve definitely met before, but it wasn’t like this. Things were never this easy back in the supposed safety of home. Cosmo with his secret finds himself completely distracted by this new boy, Dune, with his gem and his sparkling eyes, but he definitely needs to get his priorities in order.
