Kandy

PROFILE

In game, Kandy acts as a red herring for important plot elements. She can be seen as a dark shadow rustling into bushes watching the player, muttering vague and ominous plot threads. However, all her meetings with Kris and the gang are purely coincidental. In fact, she's been told to avoid them as to not insight trouble. All she's talking about is her fan-theories about her medias! She's too focused to pay attention to where she is, and quickly runs off during her first few interactions with the gang.

PERSONALITY

Kandy is very slow to trust the player. The method in which she shows affection is unorthodox(such as giving the player items which could be considered "trash" if you don't realize the value the item has to her) but she is a genuinely a well-intentioned, friendly kid.

STORY

Avoiding Kris since she moved in due to her mother's desire to maintain public image, Kandy has gained a reverse-psychological fascination for humans. Human culture and "history" (anime) are her favorite topics!

PUBLISHED CHAPTERS

Kandy is not present physically in the first and second chapter. In the trash cans around town, her presence is hinted at by the types of candy wrappers tossed away. She prefers hits such as "TaffyGum XTREME!Ⓒ" and "Diet Diet Cola Sparkle-Fizz".

FUTURE IMPLEMENTATION

After the events of a theoretical chapter 3, Kris and Susie attempt to re-investigate the closet door at School. Seen rustling between the trees, a silohuetted figure follows the two. Upon finally catching up to the figure, they realize they've gone through the back of the apartment complexes. Before seeing who the person was, a Dark World appears in the back alley, as the three are transported into a graffiti/street-themed world.

While exploring the dark world, a trail of wrappers in left in Kandy's wake, which reveals where she was sitting in the dark world. She explains how she was avoiding Kris and Susie due to her mom's wishes and was attempting to enter her apartment through the back door. However, she insinuates explaing herself doesn't matter cause she believes she's in a lucid dream. She can be befriended by the gang temporarily as a psuedo-party member. After their adventure, she runs home.

In a pacifist route, she invites Kris and whatever friends they would like to bring(meaning Kris has the option to invite their schoolmates) to hang out with her in the apartment her and her mom live in. If the player makes negative choices that effect Kandy's mental health, she disappears before Kris and Susie wake up and the offer is not extended. Kandy may be mentioned by other characters in the future, but she does not make an appearance in chapters past her debut until the finale.

SPELLS

SWEET TOOTH

During a "pacifist" route, Kandy only has one spell and rather low attack stats. Her spell plays with the element types hinted at in the code of Chapter 2 and are used as a tutorial on the mechanic.

CAVITY

Cavity is added during a neutral route. It expands the types of elements that Kandy can hit against. You will still be able to hang out with Kandy if she has gained this spell. However, it serves as the starting point to her next upgrade.

GUM ROT

A "weird" route leads the spell SweetTooth to be replaced with GumRot. GumRot is not as effective as Noelle's SnowGrave, but does have its own mechanic. If one enemy is hit with GumRot, its poisionoius effects will spread to enemies beside it over time.

RELATIONSHIPS

NOELLE

Kandy worries that since Noelle has known Kris since childhood that they will assume Kandy is some copy-cat poser. However, once this initial anxiety wears off, they are decent friends. They're not the kind of people who would go out of their way to hang out, but having the same friend group keeps them near.

This may vary depending on who has/hasn't engaged in a "weird" route with Kris.

SUSIE

Kandy finds Susie very relatable and has a respect for her ability to stick up for herself. Her mother thinks that Susie would be the one to bully Kandy out of all the kids at school, but they actually hit things off pretty well!

BERDLY

These two have bickered online back and forth for years. Even if she hates his bad takes, she enjoys always having someone to talk to about new media. Like, dude, shut up about the start of season 2. It was made by an entirely different studio! Have you even read the interviews!?
