Chouette is so extremely farsighted because of his owl eyes that he needs glasses for anything up close such as reading or navigating anything closer than ten or fifteen feet in front of him.
He is one of very few surviving relatives of an ancient race of harpies that did, in fact, have some very radical religious beliefs and deities under which they served. He talks about it a lot, but most people write his rantings off as craziness.
Despite having nocturnal vision, Chouette's afraid of the dark and claims that there're monsters and creatures within it that only he seems to be able to see...
