Adain
gentle ✦ affectionate ✦ protective
stubborn • clingy • anxious
Adain grew up in Banelaire, to loving parents that worked in a pet rescue and training center. Surrounded by pippets of all kinds as he grew, Adain was raised with a love and fondness for all creatures. However, his fixation on these critters resulted in him not showing much interest in making other Vespire friends, and his parents worried the work they were raising him alongside was making him too reclusive. So, they made sure to send him out to play often, even when he tried his hardest to deny it and say he would rather help with the center's work.
His family already had an excellent reputation with the great work they did, but Adain being in the public eye only furthered it. It was plain to see that he was a good kid with a kind heart, always willing to help others, and he quickly became one of the most beloved Vesps to come across in town. Despite that, he still hadn't found any true friends though...
Until one fateful day he met Jinx, an escapee of the local orphanage who had found some injured pippets and needed help. From then on, his life changed. He realized the value of forming friendships with not only creatures. Adain is still a bit new to it though, and is always learning, so often his affection can be clingy and somewhat smothering (although Jinx, who also grew up lonely, doesn't seem to mind in the least). Adain has taken Jinx under his wing(s) and is mentoring him about pippet training just as his parents taught him. Soon, together they plan on going on a big adventure once they're old enough!

Jinx
[ Best Friend ]
Jinx and Adain have been close friends since childhood, and Jinx is the closest friend he's ever had. They share many interests, such as their love for Pippets and taming them, and their sense of adventure, as well as their more recent dabbling into helping and guiding lost spirits. Jinx means the world to Adain, and Adain feels fiercely protective of him, sometimes to the point where he worries he might come off as clingy. He has been trying to dial it back so as to not make Jinx uncomfortable (a big worry of his), but he can't help it at times. To Adain's horror, he has been noticing Jinx acting strangely lately, often pulling away from their usual hugs or turning from any eye contact that lasts more than a few seconds. Adain is so terrified of losing him that he instead just tries to pretend everything is fine instead of asking about it.
