Jaker

Jaker is a space pirate captain of the starship Rosegold. His first mate is his adopted daughter Az.

Jaker prefers to not remember his past, so the story of his scars and cyberkinetic legs remains a mystery to most. His eye and jaw, however, he received after a nasty fight with a rival that left him near death.

Overall, Jaker is a quiet, serious, and reserved man. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have embarrassing secrets (like a guilty pleasure for reading trashy romance novels) or doesn't like the occasional night of drinking and joking with the crew. His cabin is cluttered with maps of the universe from all sorts of different time periods (the less interesting ones cover his few aforementioned novels) and even has a few he's made himself. If you dig deep enough in the clutter, you may even find a terrible manuscript completed with an insanely detailed fictional map.

His origins are kept pretty secret, along with the story of his legs and scars, but he's admitted to Az that's mostly because he doesn't know where he was born or who his parent were. Most of his younger life was spent in the Federation until he broke contract. It's unclear whether or not his break with the Federation has an relation to his scars.
