Personality

Yuna is a very energetic individual, and a far louder personality than her size belies. A very carefree individual, she's quite friendly and considers just about everyone who's nice in return a friend. Always talkative, she comes with a loud (and possibly annoying) voice to boot. Loves pulling mostly harmless pranks, and is definitely smug about it when people fall for it. However, she does have an eye for danger, and does her best to keep her allies from falling into enemy traps. Despite what she seems on the surface, she is quite responsible and does care for the welfare of the group.

Almost akin to an anime protagonist, Yuna hardly gets down from failures and setbacks. She believes negative emotion is useless; being angry or sad won't change the outcome of what's happened, the only thing you can do about it is move forward and try to make the best of the bad. Similarly, when hurt, she hardly shows it, but someone who knows her well can likely see the tells of her holding back years of tears.

She loves books and coffee, and her two favorite pastimes are holing up in a library with a LOT of coffee, or going on a coffee shop crawl with a large backpack of books. She doesn't always take magecraft too seriously, believing that there's more to life than single-mindedly being a mage.

Profile

A petite girl with bright green eyes and brighter green hair. In her eyes is a sparkle of something devious, possibly smug, that the rest of her face rarely shows.

Magi clan. Heir of both the Makoto and Kuroyume bloodlines. The Kuroyume line specialized in aura amplification and enhancement, while the Makotos were elemental mages. Yuna takes more after her father's side in looks and magic, but more after her mother in personality.

As a child, she was quite wild just like her mother, and loved to stir up trouble and play pranks on the unsuspecting. She had a passion for puzzles and games, both creating them and solving them, but elders believed her intelligence was wasted because she rarely paid attention in classes and didn't like doing any tasks that didn't involve a game or puzzle. Has the smuggest face when she knows she's outsmarted her opponents.

She started learning magic at twelve, and quickly proved herself to be far more talented than her parents. But while Tsumiyuna was intelligent and successful, she didn't particularly care for things. She enjoyed it best when she could immediately see directly the fruits of her labor (and wits), which usually manifested in playing games and playing pranks– two things she 'inherited' from her mother, who also never seemed to take anything seriously. She's quite smart, but not exceptionally so– it's due to her secret technique she appears to have genius level IQ. (Think fast!) She prefers to keep her Aegis bloodline and her mother's family's techniques hidden, while flaunting her mastery of her father's elemental magic.

As for magic, she knows she's talented but she struggles with a sense of self and direction. She didn't have goals, or ideals, or even anything she really wanted to do in life. The only reason why she studies magic is because she's talented, and because her family was banking on her to carry on the bloodline.

Also known as the "Lightning-wit Tactician" and the "Chibi Demon". Is particularly skilled at deducing and countering the movements of enemies, as well as spotting and setting traps. Sometimes comes up with crazy, high stakes, high reward plans that appear to have low success rate, but most usually succeed or at least partially succeed. That, and because she tends to lead her enemies into a false sense of security before utterly crushing their hopes of victory, are why she's been given the moniker "Chibi Demon". The Lightning-wit Tactician and Grandmaster of the Aura Guardians are her more "normal" titles.

About

Lenn-

Titania -
Yuna idolizes Titania, so much so that she's willing to abandon (some) rational thought to maintain that ideal.

Emerald -

Kamui -

Aidryn -
It's Complicated™️. Aidryn's the only friend from the academy she's still close with, and are currently roommates with as Aura Guardians. Friends with benefits, kinda. There's no romance between the two, just more or less being each other's emotional support and also mutual bullies.
Well. Yes. There is sort of a one way relationship. Yuna's interested in Aidryn, but Aidryn is aro and not interested in being anything other than friends, so Yuna doesn't really press on.

About

Backstory

Heir of the Kuroyume and Makoto bloodlines, two Magi bloodlines that were both in the decline for several generations. Both families agreed to merge their bloodlines, and Yuna became the families' only hope for a continued existence.

It succeeded; Yuna was born a far greater mage than her family anticipated. For the first fourteen years of her life, she was homeschooled and a sheltered child. At twelve, she began studying magic, and at fourteen, she was admitted into Areshia Academy's accelerated course study program– a year earlier than normal, and one of only twelve students. Three years later, she was set to graduate after the winter term as the number one elemental mage in the academy. Areshia Academy, as the top academy in the region, rarely graduated anyone ahead– even those who entered the accelerated course often fell behind.

How she managed that feat was known only to herself and her mother. Ashiya Kuroyume had been developing thought acceleration magic in secret, an extremely specialized form of the Kuroyume's enhancement magic, that could speed up the user's thoughts nearly five times faster. The cost however, to use it for any effective period of time, was aura capacity she did not have. While it wasn't outright forbidden magic, as it was newly invented magic, some of the techniques encroached on the territory, so she was reluctant to share it. Until one day, Tsumiyuna encountered her research notes and replicated it perfectly. At first, Ashiya was reluctant in having her daughter be her "test subject", but at Yuna's insistence they ended up working on it together– Eventually near the end of her study years, she managed to pack a day's worth of work into fifteen minutes. She'd often bemoan her handwriting speed isn't up to par with her thinking speed.

Because of this, she'd often be thought of as someone who barely studied, yet aced everything anyway. A cup of caffeine and a few hours of study took care of everything she needed for classes in a week. And because of this, she was constantly dragging her friends, Kamui, Aidryn (then Adrienne), and Alina off to have fun, because between studying and reading and her friends, there was nothing else she particularly cared to do. To Kamui's exasperation, the girls seemed to hivemind their troublemaking, leaving him the only "sane" one of the group.

Before Areshia however, she only knew two people her age– Emerald and Alina, her cousins. Both of whom she secretly envied because they knew what they were doing in life, or so she thought. Emerald was quite literally, perfect, she thought, and that intimidated her. Alina had strong opinions and weren't afraid to speak of them. And so, like a limpet, she latched onto Alina and her hopes and ideals, and made that her reason to live, and to better herself. She'd convinced herself that her cousin would be someone amazing one day, and she'd support her every step of the way. Plus, if Alina struggled to use magic, what better to supplement that than her inherited aura amplification techniques?

Her life would come crashing down the summer before she was set to graduate. It was the summer of Emerald's graduation, and it came with a blaze that burned her life to ashes. Areshia Academy. Smoldering ruins. Alina. Dead and body missing.

She'd barely finish the term at Kokukari Academy with barely-passing grades. And she would continue her bare-minimum living effort if not for Titania offering her a place in the Aura Guardians. Titania was a stickler for the rules, but even she could bend sometimes, and bend she did to assign Tsumiyuna as a strategist immediately. Usually, the position was reserved only for A-tier and above Guardians, with at least two years of field experience. Yuna didn't need either to perform better than most fresh into her role. More gradually this time, she warmed up to Titania, and eventually began clinging to her the same way she did for Alina. This time, she wouldn't let the person most important to her die.

Fate apparently enjoys mocking her, as not long after that, her parents happened to die in an accident. In every way, it appeared to be an accident– the carriage drivers were driving up a steep mountain road in the rain, and one of the horses slipped, bringing down the entire carriage into the valley below. The driver died as well, and with nobody to blame, the incident was quickly forgotten by the public. But Yuna didn't forget. She was determined to find out how her parents died– almost obsessively so, and eventually found the source– a curse, applied on the carriage wheels, manually tripped to send her parents to death. There was no way an experienced driver and experienced horses would make a mistake on the path returning to their mountain home, as familiar as it was.

But, in pursuing the perpetrator, the trail ran cold, as when they found the mage responsible, he was already dead. There were no other leads. Her family pinned the blame on the Avrians, the noble house who would be most threatened by the Makotos' rise in power. Through and through, they denied culpability, and while the rest of her family didn't believe it, Yuna did her own digging, and found they were indeed telling the truth.

So then, who had killed her parents?
