Velum

The caverns on Syntes are what makes exploration a passion for most. They span throughout the entire planet beneath the oceans, an endless labyrinth of untapped potential for discovery and places to build new homes.

Unfortunately, cave-ins can lead to a syntei's death if they aren't careful.

Some time ago, a tiny protomorph found its way into the remains of a fallen syntei, old remnants of an ancient group of explorers. The protomorph found nutrients left in the remains, absorbing them into its own, as well as their clothing and the rest of them. And from that fallen syntei helped birth new life, helping the lone protomorph grow strong and healthy. It is now a proud syntei who wears unique wrappings across its body, a vague tribute to the fallen one who housed them so long ago.

This is the story of Velum.

Likes:
- Closure: Witnessing something come to an end allows for someone to fully experience it. After all, one cannot appreciate something in it's entirety until it is finally gone.
- Art: In Velum's opinion, concept given form by someone's wish to create is one of the most wondrous parts of existence. No matter the form it takes, be it stitch, sculpture, song, script or sketch.
- Cooking: Speaking of.. one of their favorite forms of art is food, especially when a dish shows one's thoughts with the ingredients combined and expertise with executing the process. Unfortunately for them, Velum is no master chef. What they manage to make tastes good to them! Although they aren't as confident to allow others to try their cooking. For now, they still try to refine their own abilities to be able to cook for someone else one day.

[5/29/2021] After 7 months of having Velum with me, now he gets a name :')
I jumped into this world too early for my capability to create at the time of joining Megethos and adopting this character. As I wasn't able to focus, I've felt guilty for leaving them alone, especially without any effort of development at all, or even give them a friend.. So I put this note here as a small step forward for my ADHD brain to recognize that I'm going to try to add in even small thoughts and sketch them more.
[5/27/2023] I'm not sure what it is about May being my staple month to come back and check on all of my characters, but my full-time job is settling down and I'm coming back from a total online hiatus. It's been two years since my last update, but I keep Velum in my thoughts since I couldn't bring myself to draw them, but my new medication is working out well and I even drew a new character design for myself earlier this month, first time I drew in a while. I would like to revisit working on Velum again.
