Few words can describe Quiet River's ability to lead. Yes, he's gotten into trouble in the past but who's to say that he's the same cat he was back then? Now, he leads with an open heart, always telling cats the truth. His words are like gold, so valuble in the eyes of his subjects but so meaningless to highborn cats like himself.
Of course no cat questions River. Having the King on your side will surely grant you treasures. Yet, those who do undermine him will regret doing so. Cats by the millions are on his side. That doesn't mean the tom isn't cooperative. No, he will try his best to understand both sides of the story. This just, simply put, means no cat will quite respect you the same again.
No cat leads a kingdom perfectly. Everyone has their flaws, including the king. However hard he tries to hide it from his cats, they can see through the paper-thing truth. They can see how unorganized he truly is. How little he values his own life. It is a sad secret, one not so easily kept. He is always doubting his actions no matter how good they are. No matter his thinking. It would be a shame if the unforgiving rose up and claimed his throne.

History
River was known to be secretive in his youth. He never revealed his plans for his future with anyone but his friend, a small servant by the name of Robin's Feather. It was, of course, a mutual agreement that the two were to never be seen together. She taught him how to be honest, with himself and others. It was with her help that River's reputation finally began improving. His honesty, yet harsh, was seen to be incightful and cats could now openly communicate with him.
In fact, the young heir's father named him after his quiet behavior when he was a kit. His name didn't seme to suit him any longer. It sounded weak and no name for the future king. He called himself River, an abbreviation of his real name. Cats began to follow his lead, believing it would please him.
When River's engagment to a powerful Queen was announced, everyone was shocked. Yet, it wasn't difficult to understand. The king was on his deathbed and needed to marry his son off before it was too late. He knew of his love for Robin, and wanted the family to stay powerful. When the she-cat came to the Northern Tribe, she instantly positioned herself to take care of the poor, lovestruck servant girl. A single drop of poison would do the trick.
Oh, but what became of River? Hislove could not stop him from recieving the thrown. He never knew of the Queen's murderous acts, but yet it still haunts him. Every waking hour if feels as if the very place that built him up is going to tear hims down. If he lets it, it most certainly will. He has to be strong, in the name of Northern Tribe, his family, and his tribemates.
