Oleander

Oleander was bred as a fancy eater by a Starshooter business that specialized in such pets. As a docile young child he was sold as a pet and companion to an aristocratic family's daughter. There Ollie was spoiled to a fault, given absolutely anything he could ever want; the finest of clothing, food, and toys were at his fingertips. Whatever a child could ask for.

But as he grew older, his childhood friend became more involved in the social life of a young Shooter lady, and she lost interest in her pet. Ollie was left mostly to his own devices, and picked up the habit of sewing; one of the other household slaves taught him how to use a needle and thread in her spare time. Turns out that Ollie was quite the hand at it; he took to sewing and tailoring clothes like a Fisher to water.

As his owner grew ever more distant, her parents decided it was time to sell Ollie; he was a pretty little plaything that their daughter had discarded like a childhood toy. But being a rather rare specimen of an Eater, they went through an intermediary to sell him for the high cost he was worth - a Shooter by the name of Lindsay who frequently bought and sold pets.

Halfway through however, Ollie's sale was broken off, with the other party never coming to collect him. He spent more and more time at Lindsay's house, and slowly Ollie just accepted that he belonged to Lindsay now. He repaired and tailored his clothes, he helped keep and coach the other pets that came through; Lindsay even bought him pretty new collars and outfits!
