sexuality . [Heterosexual]

occupation . [CEO / Businessman]

. physical appearance

height . [5'11"]

hair . [Black]

health .
Valerie has no existing health conditions or concerns.

defining features .
The way he dresses is the main one; he's very particular about color coordination and accessories.

physical summary .
Valerie is able to afford a personal trainer to handle his fitness routine, which tells you all you need to know. He's healthy with a solid build, and keeps a professional appearance.

. personal information

values .
He likes to know where his money is and controls it down to the dime. That's the first thing on his mind, and second to that he values his family--even if he's too out of touch to show it.

motivations .
He wants to establish a third location for his business, somewhere outside the UK to make an international name for himself. To do this, he's taken some risks in investing and has become more ambitious with sales. He also wants to support his daughter and her riding career by investing in the stable she rides for.

pet peeves .
He hates to have his ignorance pointed out, even when the other person is in the right.

strengths & weaknesses .
Part of his nature is that he's good at negotiations, but also has the tendency to ask for too much. He has a habit of relying on friends for "favors" which range from house-sitting to baby-sitting his actual child. He never sees these as extreme, no matter the request, and would be shocked if anybody actually told him no. Similar to his relationship with his daughter, he thinks that being able to offer money as a consolation for these requests makes him a good friend.

personality summary .
Valerie is social, outgoing, and equally outspoken. He doesnt hesitate to say what he means while skipping the small talk, even if that means coming across as abbrasive. When it comes to business, he's charming and can persuade anyone to go for his deal based on his reputation alone. He keeps formal connections and neglects personal relationships based on a fear of vulnurability.

As connected as he is, Valerie avoids keeping people closer than necessary, which unfortunately extends to his own daughter. He's proud of her and would never intentionally neglect her needs, but fails to realize that's exactly what he's doing. He assumes that because he can provide for her and treats her well, he's doing enough and can afford to keep his distance. It doesn't help that he already sees her as "indepenent," and is proud of her for her ability to run her own life.

. background

education .
For primary school, he was boarded at a prestigious academy, and later transferred to university for his business degree.

occupation .
Currently, he operates a business selling security systems out of Ireland, but also owns real estate across the channel in Scotland, and his company has a secondary location in London. In other words, he's well traveled across the UK, and has the means to move around as necessary to further his work.

residence .
In addition to several vacation properties, Valerie owns an older, Victorian style manor in the countryside, which is his family's primary residence.

origin & history .
Valerie comes from a distinguished line of entrepreneurs and investors, meaning that he's never known a day of financial stress in his life. That being said, his friends growing up were all common boys and stable-hands. Not out of preference, but for the fact Valerie was exceedingly unpopular at boarding school. This gives him more of a grasp on reality than figures like his father, but he still lacks a certain empathy towards lower class struggles.

He lived comfortably in Wales for most of his childhood, but frequented Scotland and Ireland for business affairs as well as higher education. Clyde was his best friend growing up, but their careers lead them down drastically different paths. He fails to understand why Clyde is so poor and doesn't just invest his money in CBEC to grow richer, which is a touchy subject so he avoids mentioning it. Instead, he offers Clyde some additional income by trusting him to look after his horses while he's running errands outside the country. He also supports Katrina as the new owner of CBEC, though he's made attempts to persuade her to take investments she doesn't want to. He's also oblivious to the fact CBEC has practically become his daughter's family, or that everyone is critical of his parenting style. He just assumes she wants to spend more time there because of the horses.

. relationships

family .
From the way he talks about his daughter, you'd assume the two of them are close, but in reality he fails to give her much attention. He's always caught up in his finances, and doesn't see a problem with letting Max fend for herself. Her independence is a trait he admires, and he unknowingly worsens the problem by praising her for it. His wife is a similar story, though she's independent in the same way he is, and is rarely bothered by his distant nature. They have a power couple dynamic where they each handle their own affairs, and come together only when their schedules sync.

closest friends .
Clyde Kent / The two of them were closer friends as children, but as adults they tend to butt heads on every issue. Clyde took over managing CBEC after the proper owner, his cousin, moved to the United States. In light of this, Valerie put pressure on him to sell the estate and take the financial gains, which soured their relationship permanently. In the present, the two avoid each other, though Valerie still stops by CBEC to negotiate with the new owner, Katrina.

acquaintances .
Mikhailov Nikolai Petrovich
/ Valerie has never said more than a few words to Nikolai, but hired him per the advice of his horse's trainer. Because of his lack of interest in horses, he leaves them entirely to the care of Nikolai and the rest of the HRS staff. If Nikolai happens to win an important race, Valerie sends him a thank you card with his check, and that's the entire extent of their relationship

romantic status .
Valerie is married to his high-school sweetheart and business parter, Diana Morrison. Together they have one daughter, Mallory.

social demeanor .
To be determined.

. riding career

discipline .
He's only had the most basic exposure to horses, and doesn't ride regularly. He was far more involved when he and Clyde were kids and they would ride together on trails.

riding experience .
To be honest, Valerie isn't the biggest fan of horses, but appreciates that his daughter likes them and has taken recent interest in betting on races. He also keeps up with tabloid coverage of the events to better predict future winnings.

owned horse(s) .
He owns several racing thoroughbreds, including Roach,  but he isn't involved in their care and leaves it to her jockey and trainers.
