Born a noble lady with inherent magical potential, Charity found herself having to flee across the continent from her family in her late teens due to fear of being taken advantage of and used, as well as abuse at the hands of her mother and father. She came to hide and reside where she thought her family would never look for her, thinking she would never stoop so low: a brothel. She found her pride smarting with the indignity of it, but her survival and escape was more important. Due to her beauty and wits, she was soon picked up by a very prestigious brothel where she'd only meet the upper crust of society. She soon found herself an admirer and regular customer in the form of Devaan de La Phyra, who would lavish her with gifts as well as tips on top of her usual nightly fee. She does not have any real feelings of affections for him, but is grateful for his attentions regardless. It allows her to seek out books and training to nurture her magical potential.

Charity is not her real name, but rather a name she was given by the madam of the brothel, a name that had her favoured by priests and nobles alike - as they could honestly tell their wives they'd been buried in charity work rather than outright lie. She does not give out her real name for fear of being discovered as the long lost daughter of a powerful family that more than likely have a high bounty on her safe return home.
