Adarim Maerish

Adarim is a man who likes to think of himself as an intellectual. In reality, he is a spoiled noble who's known to have been dealing in some shady matters in the past. These days, hovewer, he prefers to focus on his poetry. Rumour has it his behaviour changed significantly after losing a game of chess to Reimeth Elehandro back in 1988.

Maerish loves to be an authority for other people, people looking up to him being the best compliment he could receive. Cares a lot about social structure, the Esearish culture and politeness - when interacting with him, proper respect is a must. On the other hand, he's quite a pushover for people higher in the ranks than him - the royal family could do anything and, for one reason or another, he'd take it without complaint. He's got a bit of a hero complex - whatever he does is always the right thing, his actions the actions of a protagonist, who always comes out on top. He's incredibly entitled, yet easily swayed by flattery. Deep inside, he's a very anxious man who doesn't know what he's doing at any given time. Having been a pawn of the Elehandro family for decades, having been one of the highest authorities in the country practically since he was born, he feels uncertain about his future now that Esear has fallen. Still, he's a good actor who's able to mask that anxiety quite well. As such, he comes across more as a proud traditionalist rather than a man clinging onto the past in order to preserve his own identity and sense of purpose.
