Semi-corrupt Peach Pearl.
-------------
She/her or they/them.

Design adopted from HERE
Story and character by me.

Obviously "corrupt" but the extent of corruption is not clear. Visible signs include a white/milky imperfection in her gem, the area around her mouth being rather... stretched out and melty, and her erratic movements. She does not usually speak, preferring to communicate via movement and hand gestures. She can also produce a "living light" from her gem to create images and illusory sculpture, though it takes a lot of energy and tends to tire her out. The light also behaves erratically, and if you get close enough, you might hear whispers... possible manifestations of the Pearl's erratic thoughts, but they are mostly unintelligible. If she does speak, it is with a horrific raspy voice and slurred words due to the unstable condition of her mouth and vocal cords. She does not attempt this often as others may find it unnerving.

Pre-Corruption
-Went through a series of owners. Originally belonged to Peach Alabaster and was fairly quiet, albeit with a rather smug attitude. Possibly damaged by this owner.
-Spent some time acting as a product catalog of sorts, with the ability to produce interactive holographic images of items for sale.
-Spent some time on her own- as an unattached pearl- performing illusionist acts using her ability to manipulate light.
  - Unattached pearls often had hard lives. It is unknown how the damage began but it is assumed to have occurred sometime after the death of her last owner, possibly while she was living on her own, as pearls alone were often mistreated more than pearls owned by/associated with someone who could sue you for damaging them.

Overall/While Corrupting
-If you got too close to the light-based images she created, they seemed to whisper.......

Post-Corruption
-Cannot speak due to facial deterioration; her only vocalization is a breathy rasping which she refrains from attempting often, as it does seem to unnerve people.
-Has her own form of sign language and gestures
-Vaguely happy all the time; it is unclear if she is really aware of the damage to her gem or the intense pain she must be in.
-Seems to get excited about unlikely things, such as the demise of a fellow gem who may have treated her badly. Most tend to ignore this.
-As the damage worsens, her form will occasionally glitch out with various visual aberrations.

Alternate Universes
An attendant at a faire between dimensions. Don't ask what a Pearl is doing with all this old Gem tech...
Something about a fractured timeline. Something about a 'bad end'.
Wherever the previous owners of these items may be, it doesn't matter because the price is cheap and the items are in reasonably good shape. As for the owners...?

*The "damage" is not actually true corruption.

-------------
Corruption
The truth about her "corruption" is that part of the interior of her gem has become liquidized. When she moves it wears down her gem from the inside, causing form, speech, and possibly mental deterioration. She is in a lot of pain but seems not to mind or to be too absorbed in her lighthearted state as a way of coping. She is currently being studied by gems that are trying to find a physical explanation for "defective" behavior in off-colors, which, the authorities hope, might be corrected without rejuvenating the gem. (in reality, they are looking for an excuse to mistreat those who do not fall in line; Peach Pearl is a curiosity, and an example they can show for why off-colors cannot be simply rehabilitated through less... extreme means.)

Character Origin - OLD
Design adopted from Dorklings on DeviantArt (Dorklings was the adopt account of the user Dirklings, who has since moved to a different account)

I struggled with ideas for a bit... At some point I was thinking about what little I know of the show Rick and Morty and somehow got the idea that Peach Pearl would be... How did I put it... "an attendant at a faire between dimensions. Don't ask what a Pearl is doing with all this old Gem tech. Something about a fractured timeline. Something about a 'bad end'. Wherever the previous owners of these items may be, it doesn't matter because the price is cheap and the items are in reasonably good shape. As for the owners...?"

Something like that. Basically Peach Pearl was made to be a shop display mannequin of sorts, and was able to project images of the products similar to how CrystalGem!Pearl could produce holograms. However many viewers found the displays "unnerving", some claiming that the light used seemed to whisper. Peach Pearl ended up passing from owner to owner, several of whom suffered "mysterious accidents" of some sort. Gems began to consider her a "bad luck pearl", although there was never any real evidence that the pearl had done anything to warrant this title. Eventually she was sentenced to be shattered...

...and disappeared entirely.

I didn't really have any plans for the character other than that bit of backstory, and the bit about being in between dimensions, and referring to her as a "bad end" or "bad luck" pearl. But I was interested in those court rp groups popping up on Deviantart, and when I found out that Pink Champagne Diamond's court in Court-of-Diamonds was studying corruption and corrupted gems, I decided to apply with Peach Pearl. I figured some gem would have discovered the "milky imperfection in Peach Pearl's gem" (note: the "imperfection" is actually an area deep within her gem that has liquidized, and as the liquid part shifts around it can cause erratic results in both form and behavior, as well as more damage) and realized it was somehow corruption- more than just wear and tear. She would have then been brought to the court for the purpose of studying the process of corruption and how it supposedly related to defectiveness in otherwise normal gems. (this was all written before the recent episodes, and even then I tried to leave it ambiguous whether it was true corruption or merely damage)

Unfortunately I didn't really get a chance to work this out with the court leader, and while Peach was accepted with that aspect I had no idea what to do with her. I didn't know how exactly I was supposed to portray her arrival because I honestly had no idea how the court would normally deal with a corrupted and possibly dangerous gem, yet one who had yet to reach the full onset of corruption, and was able to function semi normally in the meantime. I basically idled and didn't post anything to the court in the months since, and then more about corruption was revealed in canon and it became obvious that Peach Pearl isn't corrupted in the same way the corrupted gems on earth were.

Since then, the court has undergone a revamp which negated any possibility of getting involved with this character, at least in the version I had entered in, and then became inactive. Even if the group becomes active again, I feel my chance has passed to affiliate with it. As it is I have the vague story of Peach Pearl and her suffering, and hopefully one day I will do something with it.
