Aquamarine's Blue Pearl, designed by MistressOfTheVoid on DeviantArt
she/her
--------
Abilities: Some cloud manipulation, minor electrical manipulation. Can make holo-pearls but is not very good at it.
Likes driving earth vehicles, especially ones that go fast. Is less comfortable with space- and sky-faring ships, but likes boats if they have a motor.
Is very interested in engines and propulsion systems, as long as the transportation stays on the ground.

Aqua had a pearl made for her when resources were more abundant on Homeworld, and she would boast about it- but not in front of the pearl- to everybody, as if it was a sign that she was, well, more important than she actually was. Her pearl adored Aqua and looked up to her, and Aqua appreciated the praise and adoration because it only confirmed to her that Aqua was awesome. The pearl was the one gem Aqua (relatively) cared about, in the sense that Aqua appreciated and enjoyed her company and flattery, but Aqua, being a Homeworld gem, didn't think of the Pearl as particularly an equal. Still, Aquamarine enjoyed showing off to all the same. (this relationship was honestly inspired by Scootaloo's idolization of Rainbow Dash, and Rainbow Dash's arrogant side in general, if that gives a better idea of what I'm going for.)

Pearl adores and idolizes Aqua, formerly to the point of being so subservient as to do whatever she wishes (as pearls are "supposed" to do). She is quick to forgive and make excuses for Aqua. When they are reunited at Little Homeschool, she recognizes that Aqua has grown a lot and is very supportive, knowing "she had it in her to be great. she had it in her all along even when she didn't know it", but this is perhaps unhealthy as she has to learn to exist for herself, too. Fortunately, she is able to be more independent since both gems have somewhat moved on. They have a cordial relationship but there is a bit of awkwardness all the same. Pearl is still somewhat starstruck by Aquamarine but recognizes that perhaps some distance is healthy for their relationship after everything that has happened in their respective existences.

Aquamarine, as a character, was created very early on, before a lot was revealed about the Diamonds and the gem hierarchy. Therefore, Blue Pearl's and her story and canon might diverge from the canon of the show. Aqua was my very first gem OC, and while I could update her, I'm not sure if I will since it would require a complete overhaul of her character. Think of Pearl and Aqua as "vintage" gem OCs, who will still be developed but are from before the present state of the show/fandom.

However, I might be rewriting some of their respective pasts to allow for them to
a. Be very old, perhaps even from the beginnings of Era 1 where resources were abundant and gem designs not so fixed
and
b. Reunite at Little Homeschool as described after being separated from Homeworld (and each other) for so long, Steven really needs to help them get their bearings. Perhaps they can help other very old gems as well, though their personalities are stil less mature than one would expect from early-Era 1 gems, perhaps due to gem personalities tending to be fixed and less changeable-- until Rose, and Steven. Or, perhaps due to their age and certain issues with gem creation/kindergarten technology back in the early days of Era 1 (this may also explain why Aquamarine became "faded", perhaps she was an old enough model that "defects" would manifest in such a way centuries later.
