Peony

Peony has had an easy life. He comes from a huge family of mostly women and adores his little sisters and brothers, has always gotten along with them and his parents. He's never been rebellious even as an adolescent- the worst he'd do is piss off his tutors through snark and disinterest. He's at peace with the fact that he'll inherit from his father and have a responsibility to serve as a nobleman; he doesn't have any angst about that and is very good at playing at high society propriety, but he wants to live it up while he can and his parents have never stopped him. They love him dearly and are usually fondly amused by his antics, because his brand of debauchery is controlled and kept recreational, never interfering with his duties or theirs.

He has a childhood friend named Willow, an astrologer, who he has always been extremely close with, even sleeping together in bed with him every night when they were young. Their entire friendship has been a game of gay chicken. Their culture isn't virulently homophobic but gay activities are seen as youthful fun and it's generally expected that everyone will settle down with a spouse of the opposite sex eventually for procreation purposes, so he's never made a proper move on Willow. He didn't want to ~ruin their friendship~ since he feels a relationship with a man can't go anywhere. Willow recently settled down with another man and Peony is a little jealous and bitter about it.

Peony's religion believes in an entity called the Medicine Man, the rabbit on the moon who used his mortar and pestle and herbal knowledge to bestow members of their society with the ability to heal. It's considered a great occasion if someone is born with healing capabilities, and Peony was. Specifically, he can heal through his music (he was supposed to be a bard in a very unconventional d&d game lol). Peony isn't very religious himself, but he likes the fact that their society expects people with healing skills to set out on missions to bring their knowledge and relief to other cultures. It gives him the opportunity to explore, but since he's a spoiled luxurious baby brat, he does it in the fashion of what is essentially glamping.
