Amaziah

Story

Amaziah was born in a rather large town to a rather wealthy family. He lived in the lap of luxury, at least as luxurious as it could get in parts like this. Anything he asked for, he had gotten... but, as he grew older, he found that the more he got, the less he felt happy about all of the things he had gotten. So, as he got older still, he began giving his things away and going off to doing the work of the common man. The work he found enjoyable, and, despite his parents wishes, he was content to work for his living... Though, eventually, he was forced to move from his parents abode because of his thoughts and wishes. So, he took his leave and began off into the desert, looking for a place that would accept him more than his own home.

The desert's weather was difficult to deal with. Some days it was scorching hot, then most nights it was colder than he had ever thought possible for the desert valleys. Nevertheless, he fared through it and its difficulties. The rations he had with him, however, barely lasted him through the journey, and there were days where he had been forced to go without food, or very little water as well. But it was only by the grace of The Great One that he had managed to get through and live.

He gave his thanks and appreciation to The Great One once he spotted a town in the distance, though it was still a day's journey away. That night, he fell asleep beside his steed, and he dreamed of The Great One... He heard a voice in the void of his mind. "What is it you desire? Ask! And I will grant it to you."

Amaziah was stunned by the very question, for he had never thought he'd hear such a thing before, let alone from the Creator. This may have been a dream, but it felt real enough... "My Lord, I ask for wisdom." Amaziah replied.

"Because you did not ask for fortune or fame, but wisdom, you shall have it. And you will have prosperity as well. For you are my child, and I give this to you in My name."

The next morning he woke and felt... different. And as he got ready and began to travel to the village, things appeared different in his mind. The wisdom was there... and he saw the world differently. And he only thanked The Creator all the more for the gift he was so blessed to be given.

He ultimately reached the village and settled down there. While there, he did find himself lonely, and so adopted his first child, Caroline, then proceeded to open up The Sleepin' Willow and the horse rental service. After some time, he also adopted the two girls, Virginia and Eloise, and since then has been rather happy with his life, though he knows that one day, sooner than later, probably, he will need to find a wife and a mother for his young children. But, for now, they appear happy with him... at least, most of them. And he loves them very much, and will continue to for the remainder of his days.
