History

The daughter of two explorers, Arlo Crimson was always travelling, even as a young child. At age eleven, her parents planned a trip to a remote island. She was supposed to stay at the Brennans' house, but snuck onto the boat before they left. By the time anyone realized, it was too late to turn back. The trip went well enough for the first day after they arrived at the island, but a mysterious force drew her away from their camp in the middle of the night and lead her to a stream where she found a necklace caught on the stones at the water's edge. She was unaware of its "curse", and picked it up. At first nothing seemed to change, but then she started seeing what she could only describe as auras. She wasn't sure how she could explain it to her parents, but she showed them the necklace the next morning. They were very interested in it and her mother suddenly became worried, suggesting that they should leave the next day instead of staying for the week as they'd planned. They eventually agreed, but they never had the chance to leave. That night, a group of people came to their campsite while Arlo was in her tent and got into an argument with her father. Her mother pushed her out the back of the tent, telling her to get back to the boat and to keep the necklace she'd found safe. Her parents were shot while she was hiding in the bushes and their attackers started digging through their tents. When she tried to go to the boat for help it was gone, leaving her stranded on the island.

A couple of weeks later, a young mute half-elf called Vyra and her griffin companion, Red, found her. Eventually, Vyra gained Arlo's trust enough that she let her take her to the village she lived in, a place that seemed as if it had been magicly hidden before. The streets of the village became Arlo's new home for the next few years. She had no money and no way to earn any, so she turned to stealing- often both for herself and for Vyra. About three years later she and Vyra were caught stealing food from an inn. They attempted to run but didn't get far before they were caught. Arlo tried to protect Vyra but it was unnecessary, the innkeeper, Kerah, had noticed them before and wanted to help EDITING HERE Arlo and Vyra became close friends, almost sisters, as time passed, but when Arlo was fifteen, Vyra was kidnapped by people from the organizion that had killed her parents. Arlo was unable to find her again, but when she is nineteen she finds a way to leave the island with plans to return to her old house and search for her parents research, hoping that it will help her learn the truth about her powers and the organization, as well as help her find Vyra again.

• The locket Arlo wears was one of the last gifts she got from her parents. Inside, there is a picture of her with them.
• Arlo's "tattoos" are sign of her powers and their appearance can change. When not using her powers, they are dark with a slight greenish tint most noticable in the light, when she is using her powers they glow faintly and become a brighter white-ish green. They might fade when she's low on energy? I haven't really decided yet.
