Juxtis is a lesson in contradictions: a purpleblood who hates being a clown and the senseless slaughter that comes with it, but lives for the rush of shattering glass and dented metal; a relaxed, carefree guy who can snap into action fast enough to give you whiplash; a monogamist in a culture that mandates polyamory. While their relationship may be unconventional (and far more violent than any blackrom should be), his kismesis is the only man he's interested in filling a quadrant with. Many people say all these things are to his detriment, and it's true that he doesn't expect to live past his tenth sweep, but Juxtis is perfectly satisfied with the life he's living.
