He and Ying were on the same crew before she lead a mutiny and became Captain
They became close friends pre-mutiny
They protect each other
She gets scared introducing him to people because she doesn't want anyone being mean to him and hurting his feelings
Alternatively, she will also fight anyone or kick them off her crew for being cruel to him
Ying named him Davey Jones since he didn't have a name. Everyone just called him Lizardman
DJ mostly keeps to himself. He's a gentle giant (he's 6'2") A bit on the shy side. Embarrasses very easily and is quick to sulk. Loyal.
He dies protecting Ying when he crew turns against her when a hefty bounty is announced for her arrest or death.
