Romie, offline, is a bit of a mess. Often stumbling over their words and uncertain of themself, they’re fairly uncomfortable in their own skin. They keep to themself, really only offering basic pleasantries when they have to, and have a tendency to spiral off into their own thoughts when not actively doing something else, afraid of becoming volatile or coming off as strange and unusual. They’re not very close with many people, a bit estranged from their family as well. They have a tendency to get hyperfixated on things, often spending hours at a time doing a repetitive task and forgoing taking care of themself during so. They sometimes struggle to set boundaries between work and personal life, a desperate workaholic despite their “easy” career as a streamer.

Online, though, when acting as their online persona, Romie is bouncy and energetic, quick to make witty comments and crude jokes. People enjoy watching them for their high-energy and funny bits, clever commentary, and quick wit. Because of this, they tend to prefer their online persona, feeling like they can really come into their own with the anonymity that a digital avatar provides. They prefer to present with this persona, finding it not only much more digestible to a wider populous, but also find it paradoxically more authentic to how they would want to be, and how they perceive themself in their head.

Romie grew up in a fairly normal household, raised by a single father who gave them free range of access to the internet and online circles from what many would argue a far too young age. Fully immersed in internet culture and harboring a cocktail of psychological issues, they began struggling in school, eventually deciding to drop out just before their senior year, much to the disappointment of their father.

On the upside, though, dropping out of school allowed them to pursue one of their main interests and passions-- Streaming video games to strangers online. With both streaming and odd retail jobs, they eventually managed to gain enough revenue to move out into their own apartment and start streaming full time. It wouldn’t be any exaggeration to say that Romie cared more about their online relationships and occupations than their in-person ones, seeing as they hardly left their home once they started streaming as a career.

Under the moniker RWQFSFASXC, inspired by a silhouetted rabbit from an undisclosed indie horror game but pronounced as “Wreckfast”, they started a streaming group with a pair of their close online friends, who went by LOREM_IPSUM, “Lorem”, and Xx-Proximity_Radar-xX, “Proxy”, respectively. The three of them made their niche as VTubers, each adopting colorful characters that they could play as during streams. It was almost a wish fulfillment thing, being able to embody their ideal selves for a paying audience. It was freeing for Romie, already uncomfortable in their skin, to spend day in and day out pretending to be an idealized caricature of themself.

Their streaming group was well known for trawling through old MMOs together, playing VR games, etc. They often used private lobbies, but after some time of doing so, a mysterious fourth party (with the simple username of tambourine1234) started appearing in games they’d play. Thinking it was just a bot account, given its tendency to simply stand staring and inactive, they hardly paid it any mind at first. Eventually, though, their friends started getting weirded out, but Romie wouldn’t let them kick, ban, or block the account. For some reason, they found themself drawn to the stranger. They were slightly obsessed with it, but in all their online snooping, could never find any sort of information about it. Like an online specter, haunting them, it started showing up when they would play any multiplayer game, even without their other friends present, and even when they weren’t streaming. Always watching, always quiet. Romie started believing that the user was following them for a reason-- Some sort of sign of something to come, maybe, some sort of romantic interest, they could never really say-- but Romie relished the silent attention. They would talk to it, even assuming what it would be responding with, spending hours of their life having one-sided conversations with this strange empty account. Perhaps they’re soulmates, perhaps they’re something else. Who’s to say?

Romie’s physical appearance isn’t one that they care entirely too deeply about, about 5’3” and gangly with messy brown hair and pale, acne-ridden skin. They tend to forget to take care of themself, whether that be showering, eating, or other typical self-care activities. Though they’re somewhat embarrassed of their appearance, they hardly ever have a reason to interact with people in person, so it tends to become a non-issue. They’re often a bit sickly as well, which they use as just another reason to avoid leaving their home and interacting with people in “the real world”.

Their online avatar however, which is how they would ideally present themself and prefer to be seen as, is a humanoid character with rainbow freckles donning brightly colored grunge clothing with pitch-black rabbit ears and a spade-tipped tail. It has a somewhat “edgy” design, littered with stylized scars and sticker-like bandages, often with a rabbit mask. The rabbit motif, as well, is shared with the rest of Romie’s streaming group.
