The Observer.
A creature born with an incredibly rare mutation found in its species. A volatile poison continuously spills from its maw and damages all living things other than itself.
Some years ago, scientists discovered the creature and captured it for research. The poisonous mutation became very problematic very quickly and so as a solution they sewed the creature's mouth to minimise the expulsion of poison. It was only intended to be temporary, but the poison seemed to have bonded the metal threads to the skin and it became virtually impossible to remove. The creature cannot make sounds or speak. It is eternally silenced.
After being released back into its habit, the creature began to scamper through towns and grew to seemingly enjoy the noise of civilisation. It crept around corners and roof tops, observing every little thing that happened, which earned the creature its name. Some considered The Observer a pest due to the poison, though others who were curious approached and somewhat befriended the creature. Youngsters began playing a game of running to The Observer and whispering secrets to its ears. The Observer enjoyed the attention for a while before things took a turn and some began venting to the creature, spilling dark desires and secret doings.
The Observer is now considered to be a vault of confessions. Those who vent to them never have to fear their secrets being shared, The Observer is always there to listen to your woes. But nobody considers how unstable The Observer is becoming. With everything they have heard and seen, with no method of letting it all out, they are forever in a cycle of anxiety and stress. Their own thoughts have been suppressed and replaced by the words of others. They will never be heard.
