Herschel came to the GC at age fifteen, swearing up and down and every way around that his four year old sister had been trying to kill him for a while. They took him in of course and looked into it, turns out, he was telling the truth. Herschel has a scar on the left side of his face from his eye running past his temple where a bullet grazed him, the little shit tried to shoot him. They also have security cam footage of her stabbing him. His father, despite seeing the footage, still didn't believe him, and his mother? Just thinks he's being paranoid and they've all been accidents. They were not accidents. She did try to kill the family's pets as well, by primarily targeted Herschel.

He's enjoyed blacksmithing as his hobby since he was twelve, his family moved to New York from Texas when he was fourteen, and he joined the GC the year after. He works for a blacksmith shop not far from the GC and is damn good at it, and a wee bit of a workaholic. He'll drink with his coworkers after work, and has a bit of an alcohol problem.

Hersch shares a room with Donovan, and was nicknamed Hershey primarily because of his first name. Though, jokingly, people will call him literally any other candy bar name than Hershey.

His many scars primarily come from working with metal all the time, though there's a stab scar just under his heart from his sister, and of course the scar by his eye ALSO by his sister. Along with the ones on his arms, he also has nicks, cuts, and burn scars around his ankles.
