Did not know of Mika at all until she was a toddler and Rue abandoned her.
He is not cruel but also not overly conscientious about Mika's fate. Drops her off at his uncle's place. He is not close to Veremi but knows the crazy grandpa with soft heart will not do harm to Mika and bring her up as her own.

He did not reveal himself or left any message with the bundle so while Mika and Veremi are related they do not know. It is not very obvious by the looks too, as she is predominantly ginger looks inherited from her mom, Diederik and whoever was Diederik's mom
