Dante

A mysterious magician who does late night magic shows, only ever performing for one person or a small group. They usually show up after sunset in traveling and roadside carnivals and never stay in the same place for long.

They're most fond of card tricks and making things disappear and reappear. Their final trick will usually be summoning a small personal item that someone in the audience has lost, anywhere from earlier that day to decades ago. They will only do this once.

Sometimes people will try to bargain with them to summon more lost items or perform other kinds of magic after a show has ended. They enjoy it when this happens, but it's extremely inadvisable to do so, as they will start taking increasingly large amounts of "luck" away from people as payment for every additional trick they perform. This will make the person's life incredibly difficult from there onwards (if it doesn't get cut short entirely). Anybody who ends up in this situation will never be able to find Dante again after the night is over.

Anything taken from them that wasn't previously owned (prizes, playing cards, uneaten candy etc.) will melt into a sticky red liquid when the sun comes up.

Design notes:

• The inside of their mouth is black and dark grey, and they have a forked tongue.
• The top canines are very long. Not fully sabre teeth but definitely more tusk-like than normal.
• Their "ears" are enclosed all around - think something more like a padded jester's hat than regular ears!
