Harlow was enraged by all the scum bags but still most of all any arcane weilders. She had let Xin into her bed but she still felt a loathing for his ability and certainly a deep mistrust. It all bubbled backas they walked in, starting to dislike Xin all over again and feeling like his arm was a weight on her as he held her.

He can plant ideas the way nix does emotions. Sort of like giving a memory before it happens and then you make it come true
After she slaughters her family who just were casualties of who he actually wanted killed she goes after him but breaks down crying (his fail safe for his own survival) he made her feel love for him so strong that the thought of hurting him made her cry. Then he shows her what she did (gives her the real memory) and she notices she's covered in everyone's blood, sees her family and vows to kill him
And he's not overpowered because nix/xin/toppi can reverse his influence but invoking calm
