The Essentials

Blurb:

Phineas Fortesque is one half of the Fortesque Twins: Infamous Pirates, Bank-Robbers, and Gamblers. Compared to her brother Bartholomew (TheAtomicBear's OC), she's definitely the emotional core of the two. She's fancy, feisty, and you can set her off into a frustrated frenzy with ease; but she's also incredibly caring, and understanding, and same as her brother: respectful.

Well... that is, until you disrespect them anyway. The moment a person starts a fight, neither of the twins will hesitate to make a statement violently. The two spent five years on the Sea of Thieves before washing up in modern day Los Santos, and they're very aware that a Captain is worth as much as they're respected.

At the end of it all, Phineas would follow her brother to the ends of the earth. They've gone through a lot together, and although they constantly bicker, they are eachothers' dear kin through and through.

Important Details:
  • Gender: Phineas is biologically male (identical to Bartholomew), however identifies as Non-Binary and dresses higher-fashion feminine. Other than a corset for waist shape, she doesn't aim to "pass" as bio-female; so please don't shy away from her more masculine features, like her wider shoulders, and a sharper jaw.
  • Makeup: Phineas, being from the early 1700s, never left behind the 'powedered face' look; it's paler these days, a lighter opacity of white, adorned with black lipstick, and a small black beauty spot under her left eye. She always makes sure to not cross the line into 'clown makeup'.
  • Scars: Phineas has scars dotted about her body from various deaths; most have healed, but one major scar- a shark bite- remains on her left flank.

Character Themes
  • Sibling-hood: The twins have gone through thick and thin together, and Bart is the most important thing in her life. As such, the concept of family and acceptance come up a lot.
  • Gambling & Dice: The twins both run the 'Fortesque & Fortesque Emerald Casino', and are often found hosting betting games and using dice in their robbery antics. These are Phineas' personal dice.
  • Violence & Blood: The Twins don't start fights without reason, but if you give them one, they won't think twice on leaving a permanant reminder of why respect is important. Preference to antique daggers and old-fashioned Flintlocks, it's not uncommon for the two to get a bit... bloody.

History - England (1680 - 1701)

Phineas Bartholomew Fortesque: a healthy baby boy, born in the year 1680 to the nobles Frederik and Adalaide Fortesque. But Phineas did not come alone, no; the child was a twin... and as his twin- Bartholomew Phineas Fortesque- always enjoyed reminding him: Phineas was born a whole two minutes later.

The two were unruley from the moment one kicked the other whilst held in their mother's arms; you couldn't keep them still, you couldn't keep them quiet, and by god you couldn't keep them apart. They were always fighting, or scheming, or adventuring, and most certainly causing trouble. By a certain point, those watching them would bless their loudness, for at least they knew where the twins were.

But- as the years went on- Phineas began to feel seperated from the world around him. He had begun feeling uncomfortable with his own body, he couldn't control his outbursts and emotions, he felt alien to everyone in his life... Well, everyone except Bartholomew. And so he became more dependant on the other, and the other more for him...

Which meant trouble when Phineas was set to be married to a neighbouring family's daughter, and seperated from his brother.

It was Bartholomew who stopped the wedding. But it was both that got them shipped off to work for the East India Trading Company. The two had caused so much trouble over the years, and their parents had been so incredibly lenient; but disgracing the Fortesque name in front of their peers was too much. They had to do something to prove they could control their heirs.

Everyone thought the two would be eaten up alive in the EITC, so it was to the surprise of all when the two took to the seas very quickly. Not that they weren't awful at the actual chores, of course. Which was likely why, when the twins deserted for rumours of distant shores a year later, that their Captain didn't go looking for them.

History - the Sea of Thieves (1701 - 1705)

Many in the Sea of Thieves had heard the tale of the Fortesque Twins: Swindlers, Showmen, and the Smart kind of Stupid. Notorious for being utter pains in the arses, yet- if you were on their side- some of the most fun you could get this side of the Shroud. Now in magical lands of Krakens and Curses and Bravery, the two were finally in their element. The two could finally be themselves. Which was likely why it was here, that Phineas found herself.

In a land of pirates, of misfits and outcasts, the concept of what was and was not okay was shattered for Phineas; and suddenly all those feelings of confusion- of staring at his mother's dresses, of rarely relating to the men around him- started making sense. Phineas Fortesque was not a boy. Nor a girl. And she was not sure what she was, but she was damn well going to be who she wanted to be.

They existed happily on the Seas for three of four years. They had scars and trinkets and memories; they had some of the greatest times of their life. But as those with great expectations often do, they eventually wondered what else was out there.

And so, as they sailed full-billow into the fog that encapsulated a place they had once called home, they expected to end up back where they'd started...

Current - Los Santos (2020 - 2021)

It was one thing they hadn't ended up back in England, but it was another that they had ended up 300 years in the future.

Unsurprisingly, each blamed eachother for that fault.

No one quite knew how, but there they were: Washed up on the shores of a city called 'Los Santos'. And everything was different now: the people, the culture, the technology (boats could be on land?!). It was all incredibly surreal, but the Twins had always been incredibly adaptable. So with little stagger in places, a lot of learning, and the collection of new contacts, the two settled in quite nicely to their new life...

And by settled, obviously I mean they went straight back to pirating; it was just on land this time. From Petty Theft, to Schemes, to Scams, to Stores, to Banks, and all with the style of a show: if it was a Fortesque Scheme, it was going to be memorable. It really wasn't long until all the local cops- and a good portion of the criminals- knew of the Twins, and the duo reveled in that.

As time moved on, their adventures evolved with them. They had fights, they gained crew-mates, they lost friends, and in the case of Phineas, they flirted. She had a thing for the cops, you see- much to Bartholomew's disapproval- and in one case, one cop tried his hardest to pull the piratess away from her life of law-breaking. It didn't work but what he had said did perk her interest: A Casino.

And, well, that was that. Quick on the get-go, it didn't take long for Phineas to run around and figure out how to start a basic street-casino; she dealt with the numbers, her brother dealt with the showmanship, and with the money and contacts they had from crime? They quickly made bank. The Fortesque & Fortesque Emerald Casino, a place to live a little, and a place for them to make a higher-class name for themself.

To this day the two continue their antics in Los Santos, joined by their crew of like-minded pirates (and one fish-man). Whether it be gambling big with buisnessmen in back-alleys, dangling the disrespectful off the top of mountains, or simply enjoying the finer things in life, the two were living in the moment.

RelationshipS

Bartholomew Fortesque

beloved twin

Her twin brother, of whom she's stuck with thick and thin. If anyone were to permanantly harm him, she'd set out for revenge with little thought. Constantly bickering, and constantly up to their antics, the Fortesque Twins are a force to be reckoned with.

cops & robbers

Despite the idea that criminals and cops should be enemies, Phineas apparently didn't get that memo. After months of back-and-forths, the two entered a polyamorous relationship, and are really quite adorable.
