Ashton Greys

Ashton is a lover & a fighter. He's sympathetic & understands people easily, wanting to help out those he can & spread a bit of joy in the world. He is charismatic and likes to flirt & play. Not really a 'player', but more so in touch with his inner child. Imaginative & enthusiastic. He is also loyal to a fault - you can trust him to keep a secret. 

Ash is not afraid to express his emotions, but sometimes finds they get the better of him. He'll cry in front of someone if need be. Similarly, he's not afraid to speak up! And often does so - he thinks of himself as speaking out for those who cannot do so themselves. His 'thing' is people, he connects with others & relates to his audience easily. A people person. 

He has a bit of a short attention span, easily distracted by things around him or random thoughts that drift through his head. He daydreams a lot. He tends to act on impulse rather than think things through before committing to them. In the heat of battle, you need to make decisions quickly. But sometimes they don't turn out the way you'd hoped... (oops!). Especially when he first comes to Amaiera, Ash keeps his heart on his sleeve & opens it to the world. But, this often leaves him open to those who want to take advantage of his kindness. 

• Ashton is Catholic! He isn't as strict about religion as many people were during his time though, he just practices as a personal connection to the better things at home. 
• "Life needs a little touch of sweetness to live..."
• He deals with his memories from The Crusades difficultly... knighthood isn't all it's cut out to be.
• Ash has a brand of his family crest on his right arm. 

Ashton was the child of a lord and one of his servants, abandoned by his father to a peasant's life. When his only legitimate son died, he took Ashton as a farce to continue the family line & legacy. Ash met Corvo during childhood, but was often abused & mistreated by his father, who sent him into knighthood as a teenager. Coming back from the Crusades, Ash left his father & rejoined the Merry Band, eventually falling in love with Evangeline. However, during a duel, he killed her brother and was sentenced to death. The book whisked him away before he could be executed. 

Entering an unfamiliar world, Ashton sought refuge in a church & met Jacques, who took him in and became an older brother figure to him. He was reunited with Corvo, and the two spent much time together catching up & reminiscing. Ash met many interesting people, including Fable, who helped him secure a job as a journalist for the Canborough Tribune. During one of Bashar's holiday parties, he met Kana, who caught and interest in the young bard & kidnapped him, keeping him as a pet for a few months. 

Eventually found & rescued by Jacques & Corvo, he spent a while recovering, coming out of the experience broken & lost after the abuse. He mostly healed, returning to civilian life & investigating how all the fairytale characters came to this world, curious about how the magic seemed to work. He had an affair with Che, and is an honorary babysitter to her & Adam's children. Ash now is investing his time into researching Amaiera & its inhabitants, as well as occasionally indulging in a drink or two.
