Profile

Personality

Speaking trait: Excitable! She's curious and hasn't spent much time with other people in her life so she reacts to a lot of things with a state best described by :o

Character traits: Friendly, albeit slightly nervous around people, but not shy. Childish and easily fascinated, tries to be polite but isn't entirely aware of society rules.

Specific traits: Doesn't have proper control over her ice powers so walks about with little icicles hanging from her fur, is slightly chubby and long-furred due to her body adapting to living in the mountains, very tall.

Likes:

Colours: Black, blue
Food: Hot chocolate, black tea with syrup
Season: Spring
Animal: Puppies
Remaining: Sunny days, creating music, listening to music, talking to people, finding out about the world, travelling, making Moony happy, nice alone times, her hut, Bilfrith, parks, snow

Dislikes:

Colours: Grey, murky brown
Food: Red meat
Season: Late autumn
Remaining: Her or Moony's powers harming her, intense cold, rude people, being alone for too long, being considered crazy, being cooped up in one place

Combat/Abilities

Skills: Acquired ice control, professional violin skills, varying knowledge on many other instruments, steady hand, first aid knowledge

Accessories (*optional): *Moony, *golden violin (from her father), some medicine to help her cope with powers, frost on the tips of her fur and lashes

Strengths:

patient and calm in stressful situations
good listener
learning how to control her powers bit by bit
skilled musician with higher education
comes from a respected family
has a sentient shadow ready to protect her to its last breath
why would anyone want to harm her anyway, she's absolutely precious

Weaknesses:

years of seclusion and a shadow as a best friend make her come off as a bit of a loony
not particularly socially skilled, even if nice
unnaturally acquired powers at a very late age work more against her than for her
naive and desperate for companion
can have trouble reading the room or others' bad intentions

Backstory(short version)

Age:

0: Born as the first and only child of a pair of two already elderly rabbits, a renowned opera singer and a carpenter specialising in instruments. Laira is powerless, much like her parents, however her mom's family has a lot of waterbenders, and dad's family has plenty of healers.

1-7: Parents love her a lot, but can't spend much time with her and they often leave her with a babysitter as they leave for their jobs, sometimes for days (mostly in mom's case). Babysitters aren't always very engaging, so Laira has to come up with ways to take care of herself. They live a while away from other houses, too, so she doesn't have any neighbour kids to play with, so by the time she goes to school, she doesn't pick up much of social skills and has trouble connecting with children her age.

8: One night, when Laira had trouble falling asleep while her babysitter was snoring away on the living room couch, Laira was playing in her room with her light off (to ensure she didn't wake the babysitter up. She wasn't very nice anyway), and instead had fun in the light of the full moon completely lighting up her room. At some point she stopped to just observe the moon for a while, until she realised she saw her shadow move on its own. It scared her at first, but when she recognised the shadow didn't want to hurt her, the child shrugged it off and considered it a nice dream, and began to treat the shadow as her playmate for the night. In the morning it turned out it wasn't a dream, and the playmate stayed with her.

9-26: This appearance wasn't ignored by the adults, of course, and Laira was soon rushed to different facilities, even some churches, in order to explain what happened here exactly. No anomalies in the child itself were found, however, and whatever the shadow was didn't seem malicious. It responded badly to some rituals the spiritual people had performed, but at that point Laira grew attached to it and protested any sort of grand exorcisms, convinced the shadow wouldn't harm anyone and all it ever did was be her very first friend. Moony indeed seemed to do no harm to anything, and it wasn't even sure if it COULD harm anyone even if it wanted, so eventually the whole thing calmed down and Laira took full responsibility for her shadow's doings. In the meantime of course, she attended schools, grew up, and gained a degree or two in uh, violin I guess, I don't know how music studies work. The shadow companion didn't help her find many friends since the weirdness of it deterred some people, but Laira was happy to have Moony, and vice versa.

27-40: Years of travelling with music and people! Her parents made sure to set Laira up with their own connections to bring their daughter forth and give her some spotlight, although her life took on a fast enough pace that she still couldn't quite settle down and actually talk to anyone. Most of her time was spent travelling, playing her instrument and then coming home to rest. Her parents died of old age quite early for her, after which she moved out of their house, too upset to live there without them, and moved further into the mountains into a smaller house they'd mostly used for vacations before. In later years, her career slowed down a little, and eventually it came to times when she'd sit alone at home with Moony for months. She didn't mind, since she'd got used to it over the years, and she knew how to keep her own company, but it wasn't too good for her mental or physical state. And also, Moony's supernatural aura appeared to have quietly messed with her own body all this time, as Laira slowly began to develop the same skills Moony seemed to possess. What she understood from what her doctors said, her genetic potential for waterbending powers has been unlocked via supernatural bullshittery, but it went slightly askew due to Moony's own capabilities, and instead Laira began to manifest frost and cold. Though not necessarily by her own wish. She was offered classes to cope with this somehow, but declined them because of the distance from her house and the price.

41: Laira collapsed in her own small house one day, as the powers got too much to handle and began to freeze her body (to an even bigger extent than usual, that is). She woke up in a hospital in a neighbouring city, where she's been rushed after Moony managed to drag the closest people around to the house, and they called for help. Moony's influence and overall existence was determined to be the cause of the powers gaining strength. Not because Moony controlled Laira's powers, too, but just because it's also cold and close to Laira, whose abilities are very sensitive to the chill. Laira's advised to keep away both from Moony, and from general cold as much as she can, but also to try and use her powers more and actually get used to them before they kill her. It's all kind of upsetting considering she's always been surrounded by cold, and she's always had Moony, but I guess it's time for changes.

42: For the first change, Laira decided to move from her hut to the city, to the closeness of the people (and the hospital). She's now determined to actually make those friends she's been missing out on this entire time, even though she's never felt particularly lonely, she has felt rather alone. She's thinking of moving out somewhere further, too, but for now Bilfrith has been very kind to her, and it feels a lot like home, and she has to save up money first, anyway. She plays in the streets there, and feels very appreciated by the people. She appreciates them too.
