Notes

My take on one of the antagonist in Slavic folklore, a villain from fairy tales and folk tales - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koschei
His original, classic form is very sketchy and archetypal and he doesn't really have his own backstory, so I've decided to change it! I ‘adopted’ him and I approached him in my own way, but then it all escalated to the point where this version of Kosch is just my character where almost everything around him is made up by me, sooo, yeaaaa ❤ Actually, he was originally supposed to be just a classic villain for another story I was creating, but after a while he became the main character himself.

General Info

  • Juicy orange eyes, gray hair with brown tips.
  • Very tall, elongated, with comically long legs, large chest and broad shoulders, emphasized even more by his clothes. Big hands.
  • Large, feathery, dark eyebrows, longitudinal scar along the collarbone (remnant of a cut out heart), smaller scar of unclear origins near the ribs on the left side, skin on his whole right arm looks like a melted, hard wax, an intricate metal frame keeps it in one piece, which is why he always wears gloves because he doesn't like the way the hand looks.
  • He cut out his heart to hide his soul inside a needle which he hid inside an egg, which he hid inside a duck, which he hid inside a hare, which he hid on an secred island on a secred lake. You can not kill him without wounding him with that needle and then breaking the needle itself.
  • Unnaturally tall or just very tall. His size changes over the course of life(s). The heigh of his 'proper' body ranged from 201 cm to almost 3 meters.
  • Strong Eastern-Slavic accent, but not Russian and basically nothing that can be defined by today's language standards
  • There is no permanent residence. An eternal tourist, a man who is very curious about the world. He travels across countries and lands in his flying palace. Sometimes he stays somewhere for longer, sometimes for a shorter time, he is sightseeing stuff and just vibin 'most of the time.
  • His flying palace was not always so big and fab. Koschei grew it from an egg, and in the beginning it was a tiny hut that could fit in a palm.
  • Unequalled life enjoyer.
  • Collector, gadgetman and geek. Wherever he is, he is looking for something interesting to take with him, buy, encourage or get some other clever way. His house and its basements and attics are full of treasures, magical or simply unique artifacts and all kinds of wonders. Among all these peculiarities, the most valuable for him are The Living Water, The Dead Water and the gramophone, along with a rich collection of records.
  • He likes splendor. Champagne, caviar, bliny and cognac, livin la vida loca.
  • A great fan of folk choirs Państwowy Zespół Ludowy Pieśni i Tańca ''Mazowsze'' and Zespół Pieśni i Tańca ''Śląsk''. He owns a full collection of vinyls.
  • He likes when things he doesn't like to do 'do themselves' and strives to make it happen.
  • He avoids suffering and toil unless absolutely necessary for happiness. He's able to go through a lot if it is to lead to something positive later.
  • Kind of harmless mythomaniac. He loves to bend facts about himself. To arouse admiration or fear or to hide the things that are painful for him, he tells stories that, while in many cases somehow true, are colorised in an incredibly creative way.
  • Smooth talker.
  • ''Grin and bear it'' type. Usually downplays problems.
  • He can shapeshift into an eagle owl and intermediate forms between a human and an owl. There were times when he spent a lot of time in the body of an owl, once he even got stuck in this form. His love of mice eating and strange bird movements also occur in human form. Sometimes blinks closing his eyes out of sync, in both forms.
