Deceiving Calculating Obsessive

You hear a strange, yet somehow mesmerizing call from deep within the woods. The hum from the forest vibrates within your chest, powerful, yet it sounds almost melodious. As if the earth itself were humming a gentle song. As you approach, the melody slowly begins to fade within the trees, calling you to come closer and closer still. Finally, you've reached the depths of the forest, only to hear the monstrous roar of a feathered, beastly dragon who soon sets it's sights on you.

  • Despite her core personality, she can, in fact, be quite normal at times. She may even be sincere—if she finds you pleasant. Her morality has recovered a bit since the day Rosario reciprocated her love and took the time and patience to reassure her. Although not truly freed into "normality" she is somewhat stable nowadays.
  • She is immediately offput by men in general, though she will swallow down her feelings in order to appear amicable. Her tendencies flare up with men in particular and especially with any men of noble or royal background. She tends to sink into old habits the longer she's within the same space.
  • Less than half the scars she has come from the wounds created from her battles a dragon. Most of them came from her late ex-husband prior to her transformation.
  • By some oddity, she has the ability to heal wounds by humming in both her human and dragon form, though humming in her dragon form reaches a farther range and is much more potent. However, she seldom uses this ability for healing, and instead used it in the past to lure victims towards their demise.
  • Despite having strong healing ability, Mara's scars are seemingly unhealable. Though most days they harmless, every so often the burn and bite into her intensely, and are often the cause of her outbursts. However, if she feels unsafe or threatened, they also seem to begin burning.
  • Despite having wings in her dragon form, Mara can't actually fly.
  • Her dragon form is extremely agile and flexible, despite her inability to fly, she makes up for it in speed and ability to climb anything.
  • Her wings serve more as a boost to jump extremely high and dodge very well. She can also flap them to create strong gusts of wind
  • Does in fact have dragon breath, but more often uses brute strength. Has only ever used her "holy flame" to raze her former kingdoms to the ground
  • She considers the mother of dragons as her own mother, and visits her regularly within the depths of the earth. Mara's dragon form even strangely resembles the mother of dragon's form albeit with many differences.
  • She maintains her draconic strength in her human form as well.

A Tale as old as time

Once upon a time, there was a great hero, born from a humble farming village just by the seaside. And just like any heroic fairytale, one day, a great dragon crawled out from the depths of the earth and wrought havoc onto the land, burning the hero's village in the process. From that day, the hero swore to slay the dragon and bring peace to the land. And so, 15 years later, at the age of 25, he did. And just like all the fairy tales, the valiant and heroic knight who saved the lands married the King's only child, the fair princess, and just like that, became the next king soon after. The hero king and the fair princess had children, and their children soon grew and had their own children, and the heroic bloodline continued. And they all lived happily ever after. The End.

...At least, that's how it should have been. The truth was, the "hero" was indeed not strong enough to slay the mother of dragons. A creature so powerful that a single flick of her tail could crush mountains and devastate oceans. Her thick scales impenetrable by any man made weapon and weak human magic. Yes, she was almighty, some might even call her a god. However, the mother of dragons had one weakness. That was, her children. The mother of dragons was a lonely being, unable to give birth normally. Instead, she bore dragons by splitting her power and using her magic to give "birth" to them. However, by strange miracle, the mother of dragons had formed an egg within her completely on her own. Elated, the mother of dragons left the depths of the earth to lay her egg on land. However, it took many years for dragon eggs to hatch, as it took an abundance of magic to be incubated—and with the power from the mother of dragons, this egg was sure to hatch only after a century had passed.

In this time, the arrival of the mother of dragons was no secret. The pressure of her power alone shook the continent, instilling fear in the hearts of many. It was at this time that those with ulterior motives took action. To capture dragons was taboo, as the humans and the faefolk and beings alike were at peace with one another, neither side wishing to provoke the other. However, this wasn't true for all. Greed grew within the depths of the heart of humans, and soon, the previous king, together with the human archmages, had captured a roaming dragon, a powerful one at that. They pillaged foreign villages and cities alike for their resources. To no one's surprise, this news spread quickly. However, the dragon had been completely controlled by the magic of 100 archmages, and could not resist. In the eyes of the citizens, it seemed to just be that: a rampaging dragon.

The mother of dragons, however, had no idea what was going on in the world beyond the cave she lay her egg, all of her focus went to her precious child. And like this, the blame had unknowingly been pushed onto her. Thus we reach to 15 years later, with the arrival of the "hero." Many before her had tried to slay her—to no avail. However, despite the hero not being strong enough, this time had been different. In the 15 years, the 100 archmages who previously controlled the dragon had devised a plan. Using the blood and heart of the captured dragon did they create a "seal." A powerful magical emblem that would ensure that the mother of dragons could no longer awaken—that she would forever be banished within the depths of her eternal slumber.

As the mother of dragons had been distracted, the "hero" managed to get ahold of the dragon egg, threatening to crush through the fragile egg with his blade. While the mother of dragons had been momentarily stunned by the threat, the hero quickly took out the emblem, and sealed the mother of dragons away. ...But not before so cruely putting the blade through the egg before slumber overtook her. And so, sealing away the cave where the mother of dragons had been put in her eternal slumber, the hero emerged victorious. In collusion with the former king, the hero married the fair princess and lived happily ever after. And thus, all knew the "brave and romantic" tale of the hero king Cessair, and how he so bravely slayed the mother of dragons.

Rosario

Mara's wife and whole heart and soul. She is fiercely possessive over her and is unhesitant when it comes to her. Despite this, the two love each other just as strongly and sincerely as the other despite Rosario's innate heroic nature and averse to cruelty. It is no joke to say that if Mara went to hell, Rosario would follow soon after. Not because Rosario deserved it, but because she would make sure she'd go, so Mara would never be alone again. Rosario does well to reassure her and keep her calm, so much so that nowadays it is far more rare for Mara's tendencies to go out of hand.

Belgarde

One of the very few genuine and sincere friends of Amaranth. She is particularly fond of Belgarde as they share many similarities and likes, although she finds him far too softhearted for his own good. It is rare for her not to become annoyed with others, ESPECIALLY of men and particularly male royalty as well, so she treasures this friendship quite a bit. She is often having tea or admiring flowers and silk with Belgarde when they meet. For Belgarde she is quite loyal and much unlike her normal nature, she is very willing to help him and Adoniram out.

Adoniram

Although she and Adoniram aren't don't quite share the same interests, she still holds him in high regard and is as genuine and trusting of their friendship as she is with Belgarde. Seeing as he is Belgarde's husband and also a close friend and confidant of Rosario, her fondness for him is much more than just "the partner of a friend" as she actually makes an effort to have engaging conversation with him. The two are just as close, and she considers Adoniram almost like an elder brother.

Love changes a person, but hatred corrodes.
